Schaumburg Bank & Trust Commercial Real Estate team is seeking a Senior Portfolio Manager to assist in the management of the Northwest Hub's commercial real estate loan portfolio. This role will report to the Chief Credit Officer and will materially contribute to the continued growth and oversight of the commercial real estate portfolio.
What You'll Do
Portfolio Management
- Address loans coming up for maturity with RMs and assign to analysts
- Attend client/prospect meetings with RM as part of deal team to develop understanding of borrower's request, gather information needed to underwrite the transaction and mitigate key issues
- Manage annual review process, quarterly construction, and exception reporting
- Ensure annual reviews and debt service coverage covenants are completed on a timely basis and tracking requirements are received within approved grace period
- Lead workflow meetings with analysts to ensure prioritization of assignments – new opportunities, renewals, annual reviews, covenant testing, and tracking requirements are input correctly in the Moody's system
Management and Training of Credit Analysts
- Manage credit analysts and the overall underwriting process to ensure all parties have a clear understanding of their respective responsibilities and all transactions are fully underwritten according to policy prior to submission for approval
- Assign tasks to credit analysts, develop timeline, and identify necessary level of credit approval
- Communicate with Lenders/Division Heads and CCOs to manage expectations related to tasks and timing
- Review opportunity memos and approval documents before sending to CCO/Concurrence Officer
- Prepare opportunity memos and approval documents for transactions as needed and present to ILA/ICC, WICC, and Executive Committees as applicable
- Work with CCO/Concurrence Officer to make necessary changes prior to WICC submission
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent credit experience
- Minimum of 8 years' direct experience in commercial real estate underwriting
- Prior experience leading a team of credit analysts preferred
- Solid understanding of compliance rules and regulations along with the ability to identify and mitigate key risks
- High attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Desire to contribute to the training and development of underwriters and the bank's rotational credit analysts
