The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Courier Clerk for the Institutional Planning & Operations Department – Mail Services Division. Under the direction of the Supervisor, picks up and delivers interoffice, incoming and outgoing mail, parcels and packages. Serves as liaison between the mail units of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS). Using RBHS vehicles, transports mail, packages and passengers as assigned.

- Picks up mail from the Post Office and delivers mail to the Post Office.
- Signs for insured and registered letters and packages.
- Calculates postage costs using postage metering machines and charges these to individual departments.
- Records, on a daily basis, the postage for meter reading.
- Logs hand deliveries, delivers all certified, registered and special delivery correspondence to appropriate personnel.
- Fills in for the Courier Clerk as necessary.
- Assists in the operation and maintenance of duplicating equipment.
- In case of emergencies, drives staff and vehicles as assigned.
- Runs errands and does minor repairs on the equipment.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ Compliance Standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Two (2) years of clerical experience, at least one (1) year of which shall have involved the handling of large quantities of mail.
Certifications/Licenses
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Must be capable of acquiring a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) within ninety (90) days of hire
