TITLE: Senior Contracting Strategy and Negotiations Executive

ROLE
A senior business executive and principal member of a cross functional sales team that contributes contracting and negotiation expertise to win complex, multi-service outsourcing technology and services deals (Consulting, Applications, Infrastructure, and Business Process Outsourcing) with clients from around the world and across industries.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Expert experience (performs complex activities without supervision, able to establish the best processes, able to teach others how to negotiate contracts effectively) and relevant experience in:
Contracts: Deep knowledge of contracting terms relevant when selling IT products & services
- IT/BPO/Outsourcing industry knowledge
- Finance, accounting, procurement, and legal principles that are core to IT contracting
- Contract terms & conditions relevant to outsourcing and IT products/services
- Commercial levers and variables key for positive deal outcomes
- Financial and business considerations that underpin contracting positions
- Ability to draw on eye for business developed from working with various operating functions and across industry markets to guide strong business decision-making
Drafting: Extensive experience drafting and detailing commercial obligations and rights
- Defining and recommending most effective contract structures and required documents
- Drafting clear and concise contractual language
- Able to support and contribute to ancillary contracting activities (Third Party, Subcontracts, NDAs, etc.)
Negotiations: Highly developed ability to gain alignment between parties
- Developing a negotiation plan and strategy
- Acquiring internal alignment on preferred and otherwise acceptable positions
- Articulating positions and alternatives, listening for and understanding client (internal and external) objections, finding mutually workable solutions
- Validating completeness and accuracy of written contract documents
Process Compliance: Ability to work in alignment with defined processes and tools

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in related functional areas (finance, procurement, IT services)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in IT Services contract review, drafting and negotiation skills across various Business Sectors and working on ITO and BPO outsourcing projects in a delivery, financial, contract management, or legal capacity.
- Demonstrated track record of closing deals over $100M in Total Contract Value (TCV).
- Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint and other productivity tools.
- Ability to travel up to 33% for client meetings, collaboration sessions and quarterly meetings.
- Strong hands-on work ethic
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree or equivalent experience or JD (strongly preferred)
- Great interpersonal skills
- Outstanding written and oral communications skills

SALARY AND OTHER COMPENSATION:

The annual salary for this position is between $212,000 – $253,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
