Job Summary:
- Provide quality, efficient, and professional delivery of LA Financial Credit Union Consumer loan products within established policies and procedures, lending regulations and company performance standards.
- Maintain working knowledge of Consumer Lending industry origination and underwriting standards.
- Maintain open communication with the Consumer Lending staff, branch personnel, borrowers and members to obtain all necessary loan documents and ensure timely loan closings.
- Facilitate inbound and outbound business development efforts to fund quality Consumer Loans to meet and/or exceed individual and corporate goals.
- Responds to phone calls, written correspondence, email or other inquiries concerning Consumer Loan Programs and services offered.
- Follow-up on all incomplete Consumer Loan applications received through all lending channels.
- Actively promotes and cross sells Consumer Loan products by educating members on product’s features and benefits.
- Funding of loan - At loan closings; inputs loan set up information, obtain loan documents, generates loan checks and updates new loan information on core system. Reviews all loan documentation for accuracy prior to funds disbursements.
- Provide Consumer DMV Processor all necessary DMV documents required to perfect LAFCU title. Assist in working with dealerships, members and finance companies to resolve any title/ownership issues.
- Verifies information on membership signature cards matches the purchase contracts.
- Works closely with other departments as it relates to establishing new membership for approved Consumer loan borrowers.
- Follow up with Consumer Loan Consultants, Originators and/or borrowers for documentation and other needed information to complete loan closings.
- Performs loan application maintenance services, handles complex loan and account research and offers solutions while maintaining confidentiality and security of member and employee information.
- Facilitates employee loan application, origination and funding.
- Audit and balance all loan checks issued daily for loans funded.
- Answer questions from members regarding loan eligibility and lending criteria.
- Performs corrections/updates to loan funding and servicing system for audit findings.
- Assist the on boarding training process for branch employees and Consumer Loan processors.
- Performs other duties as directed or assigned by management.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Two or more year’s minimum experience in Consumer Loan processing for a bank, credit union or related financial institution.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws; compliance regulations for consumer lending, including; Reg B, ECOA, Reg Z, California Rees-Levering, and Non-Discrimination Acts.
- Possess sales skills to successfully meet or exceed the funding goals of Consumer lending.
- Time management and organizational skills to rapidly adapt and respond to unscheduled events or changes, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Proficient on PC and working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, Internet, and consumer origination software. Knowledge of the MeridanLink, and Symitar systems preferred but not required.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills required.
- 10 key and ability to type 25 WPM.
- Ability to travel for business development and occasionally to an off-site meeting, seminar, conference or trade show, before, during or after regular business hours.
