Job Profile Summary Provides subject matter expertise and strategic business partner consultation on compensation plans and programs to support Advocate Health’s compensation philosophy, maintain external equity to the market, internal equity, and alignment with the key priorities and strategies of the organization. Collaborates with key stakeholders including Human Resources and operational managers on strategies to ensure compensation programs support the recruitment, motivation and retention of critical talent. May support the base, executive and/or physician compensation functional areas.
Our two open roles will complete our consultant team supporting hospital-related patient care delivery in two geographical footprints: Atrium Health in the Greater Charlotte area and Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin. We are seeking a senior-level Compensation Consultant to join our highly engaged remote team. Major Responsibilities:
Executes and consults on compensation programs to ensure total cash compensation is competitive with the market, supports engagement and furthers the goals of the organization. Strong focus on compensation consulting including job evaluations, offers, restructuring, proactive data driven compensation planning and analytics.
Serves as the main point of contact for customer groups. Builds and maintains strong relationships with and provides tactical and strategic guidance to HR partners and functional leaders to jointly resolve concerns and issues on simple as well as complex compensation matters that attracts, motivates, and retains talent.
Stays well-informed of all legal issues surrounding compensation plans and ensures that company programs are in compliance with local, state and federal laws. Conducts on-going research and benchmarking to understand best practices and emerging trends.
Responsible for administration of regular cycle processes which may include but not limited to annual merit cycle, minimum wage increases, compression analysis, annual market pricing review, and annual incentive awards. May be a process owner and/or an implementer as required.
Supports Compensation leadership with preparing for various meetings, including content creation, analyses, calculations and ensuring documents are finalized in a timely manner.
Develops and delivers reports and supports communications to increase understanding and awareness of compensation programs and their linkages to other HR programs. Acts as a change agent where necessary.
Supports and maintains the job evaluation and job description processes that furthers clear articulation of position accountability and interrelationships in organizational design and structure. Supports the job architecture, compensation pay structures, salary survey participation and market pricing processes.
May collaborate with Compensation leadership on annual budget planning process to ensure organization remains market competitive and effectively manages cost. May partner with Finance in support of budget, accounting and auditing related inquiries.
Using technical and analytical expertise, manages key compensation projects from design to implementation.
Serves as a mentor to Compensation Analysts/Consultants and engages those resources for select reporting, analytical and project support for consulting related activities.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Certified Compensation Professional certification (CCP) issued by the World at Work Society of Certified Professionals Preferred.
Education Required:
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, or another related field
Experience Required:
Typically requires a minimum of five years in compensation with previous experience in a large, complex organization with operations across multiple states.
Experience implementation and administration of compensation programs, plans, and structures across multiple states.
Experience developing a strategic partnership with management and influencing business decisions.
Experience using HR ERP technology such as Workday, Oracle, or SAP/SuccessFactors.
Experience using compensation administration software such as CompAnalyst, PayFactors, or MarketPay.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Functional experience and demonstrated knowledge of compensation practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) including the ability to communicate and present complex ideas in a simple way.
Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, plus proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other HR software/systems.
Ability to balance multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with a strong client-focused approach.
Ability to work independently and lead initiatives as required, demonstrating effective project management skills, with strong sense of urgency and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Ability to identify and solve problems creatively.
Demonstrated knowledge of HR technology and its utilization to drive consistency and efficiencies.
Demonstrated understanding of the laws and regulations that affect human resources and compensation.
Critical thinking skills with the ability to research and analyze data drawn from multiple sources to find problems and make effective decisions.
Ability to get others past their comfort zone(s) and creates a sense of urgency and speed.

Proficiency in MS Office applications. Highly proficient with Excel and PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Exposed to normal office environment.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
