Our Cloud Architect Consultant role can pay either an hourly rate of $100/hr (W2) with full benefits and PTO, $110/hr - $115/hr(1099) or $185K - $195K with full benefits and PTO. This role allows for a hybrid work week with 2 days a week remote.

Job Title: SeniorCloud Architect

Location:San Mateo, CA (2 Day WFH)

Payrate: $100/hr (W2) with full benefits and PTO, $110/hr - $115/hr(1099)

Salary:$185K (some flex) with full benefits and PTO

Qualifications:

  • Experience deploying and operating services on a public cloud framework
  • Familiar with service designing and pricing in the context of cloud-based solutions
  • Experience with working on cross-function initiatives requiring collaboration among business and technology stakeholders.
  • Involved in deploying change leadership/management initiatives to realign how business works
  • Experience with technical and security architecture, database architecture, virtualization, software design, software development, IP networking, Linux, Agile development, SCRUM, application life cycle management, .Net, Java, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby on Rails, Pig/Hive, technical solution architecture, SOA, MS Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services
  • Technical skills and competencies: Application Architecture, Automation and Orchestration, Governance, DevSecOps Methodologies, Integration Architecture, Outsourcing/External Hosting, Information Security
  • Non-Technical Skills: Critical Thinking, Subject Matter Expertise, Change Leadership, Communication and Collaboration, Delegation, Vendor Management, Program Leadership
  • Strong skills and experience in regards to Cloud Operations support in Azure and Google Cloud Platform
  • Strong Experience supporting large scale/enterprise level Cloud environments
  • Strong Experience supporting several cloud services related to compute, network, databases, etc.
  • Experience of automation/orchestration using any of the following: Ansible, Ansible Tower, Terraform, YAML, Jenkins, or equivalent.
  • Fluency in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, Ruby or equivalent)
  • Ability to troubleshoot cloud resource problems and perform complex system tests
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation for internal procedures and services
  • Ability to automate solutions to repetitive problems/tasks
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
  • Integration of Git, in continuous deployment
  • Experience with DevOps monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Detail-oriented personality
  • Ability to communicate well to other members of the development team



Desired Skills:


  • Strong understanding of cloud networking at scale
  • Ability to break down complex networking concepts and present them in a concise way
  • Shell scripting experience
  • PowerShell
  • Kubernetes




Technical Skills:


  • Security: Understanding technical security that protects the organizations assets. The Cloud Architect needs knowledge and experience in security policies, network security, data security and security event management to adopt cloud security services.
  • Governance: The Cloud Architect must ensure the effective and efficient use of cloud computing to enable the organization to achieve its goals. This involves defining appropriate use and workload and data placement policies.
  • I&O: The Cloud Architect must focus on the people and processes associated with operations and the full ITSM life cycle, including the processes needed to manage provisioning, capacity, performance and availability of services.
  • Enterprise Integration: The Cloud Architect must know the processes and architectures for integrating disparate services. Integration architecture often has specific effects on data, identity, infrastructure, API/service and provider integration.
  • Automation and Orchestration: Involves streamlining repeatable processes and automating the execution of a complex process. This often requires the Cloud Architect to have strong knowledge of scripting, programming or API integration.
  • Application Architecture: The Cloud Architect must understand the layout of an application deployment and design, including middleware options, protocols, API gateways, and platform infrastructures.




Non-Technical Skills:


  • Sourcing and Vendor Management:Cloud Architects must be instrumental in streamlining traditional, lengthy procurement practices to ensure that they dont delay cloud procurement, and they should have skill with sourcing decisions. Leveraging new services, innovation and best practices from cloud providers should be key skills as well.
  • Finance/Legal: The cloud affects budgeting, forecasting and controlling financial expenditures. Many organizations find negotiating cloud agreements challenging. The architect doesnt need to be a finance or legal expert, but must understand the basics of IT budgeting, contracts and clauses, such as indemnification, notification and limitation of liability.
  • Thought Leadership: The Cloud Architect must be a catalyst for change and be seen as a thought leader, both internally and externally. The person must resist the urge to execute business as usual and push the organization to incorporate cloud effectively.
  • Program Leadership and Delegation: Cloud adoption is a complex IT and business program. Knowledge of and experience with leading a complex program is highly beneficial. To achieve the desired outcomes, the Cloud Architect must build a network of specialized colleagues and delegate tasks.
  • Company and Vertical Experience: The Cloud Architect must convey this value in business language that is specific to the organization or market sector.
  • Communication and Collaboration: The Cloud Architect must be a strong communicator and collaborator. Given the breadth of skill needed, the person must find trusted collaborators to achieve program goals.
