Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Site Payments, Vendor Strategy Management (VSM) Operations, the Sr. Clinical Finance Analyst is responsible for Clinical financial and accounting processes in Clinical Development Operations (CDO), providing training to team members on the Clinical Finance processes and leading special projects as assigned. This includes but is not limited to the processing and reconciliation of invoices and payments to clinical investigator sites and vendors, creating reports for the corporate Finance and Development departments, and ensuring current insurance information and documentation is conveyed appropriately to the insurance broker.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Provide training on the VSM Operations processes to a new team member
  • Train and support team members on the Clinical Finance processes
  • Maintain the VSM Operations training manual
  • Identify and develop appropriate written processes, SOPs, work practices and training guides
  • Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency
  • Make process improvement recommendations

Lead complex projects as assigned
  • Lead projects independently
  • Perform work without appreciable direction
  • Identify and maintain key data for management
  • Identify and prepare reports and presentations for management

Lead invoice approval and payments reconciliation process for clinical trials including Global sites for CDO
  • Manage the process approvals and payments for invoices submitted by clinical investigator sites/vendors/CROs
  • Lead financial study closure process
  • Lead monthly clinical Dashboards reports and perform quality check
  • Maintain the clinical financial reports
  • Manage the invoice escalation process to appropriate individuals, as needed
  • Ensure documentation is maintained to support an internal/external financial audit
  • Ensure consistency in site payment schedules and terms to facilitate the payment system
  • Develop and implement management tools for tracking payments
  • Create standardized template that benefits the CDO and Corporate Finance for decision making

Support annual review of the SeaGen insurance policy
  • Lead product liability insurance process for CDO clinical trials
  • Coordinate insurance application for clinical trials insurance renewal
  • Ensure annual renewal of insurance documents is maintained in a timely manner
  • Perform consistent quality audits of work output
  • Perform monthly audit to ensure all documents are on file

Lead the Clinical Trial/ Program Budget Development for SeaGen Development resources
  • Standardize the templates for budget requests
  • Drive the budget assumptions
  • Apply quarterly budget analysis data in the development of standard cost algorithms for resources, major task, and 3rd party costs for all SeaGen Development functions
  • Define archival standards and create library of records for all budgets generated for financial governance decisions
  • Provide data for the clinical trials Budgeting and Forecasting processes
  • Administrator for the budget forecasting database
  • SME for budget forecasting

Required Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years' pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience within associated functions (e.g., pre-clinical, clinical operations, clinical systems, finance, R&D, purchasing or procurement)
  • Experience with a payment system and processes
  • Experience with financial analyses
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated detail oriented skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
  • BS/BA from an accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven scope interpretation and negotiation skills, working through clinical study teams and other functional areas.
  • Ability to manage a range of priorities to delivery and out of critical path for study start-up and conduct.
  • Prior work with a matrixed and decentralized teams, around clinical trial, and drug development projects
  • Strong verbal and written ability with the English language
  • Experience with change management
  • Experience with working with international/global organizations

The hiring pay range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
