LifeFlight is one of three related organizations which also include the LifeFlight Foundation, (LFF) an independent not for profit charity located in Augusta ME which supports LifeFlight's mission, and LifeFlight of Maine Aviation Services (LAS) also located in Bangor ME which supplies LifeFlight's aviation services.
The Senior Clinical Educator will assist the Chief Clinical Officer and Education Team in managing all facets of LifeFlight's Education Program operations to assure implementation and accomplishment of annual goals and to fulfill organizational mission and objectives.
Job Description
The Senior Clinical Educator is a salaried position that will be responsible for developing curriculum content and coordinating outreach education with EMS agencies, hospitals and any other healthcare entities requesting critical care education from LifeFlight of Maine. He/She will assist in the curriculum development and maintenance of a Critical Care Academy that will be offered throughout the state of Maine, virtually and in person. She/He will also work collaboratively with the Chief Clinical Officer to assist in the maintenance and continued development of the LifeFlight of Maine clinical orientation. He/She will be responsible for the scheduling of outreach education as well as the recruiting of LFOM clinical crew to teach topics.
The position will be based out of a LifeFlight of Maine location to be determined but will require travel to all base sites and other education sites throughout the state. This position will report to the Chief Clinical Officer with matrixed reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of LifeFlight of Maine.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Maintain applicable professional licensure in the State of Maine, Nursing or Paramedic
2. Develop, implement, and evaluate education programs based on professional, organizational, state consortiums, Commission for the Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) accreditation standards and Association of Critical Care Transport (ACCT) standards
3. Collaborate with the Chief Clinical Officer to maintain and update clinical orientation of LifeFlight of Maine orientees.
4. Work with the Chief Clinical Officer and quality team to integrate quality performance and protocols into original and continuing medical education programs.
5. Collaborate with LOM simulation team to develop and simulation scenarios and education for outreach and LOM internal training
6. Obtain and maintain Continuing Medical Education Credits for all applicable licensure levels for all internal and outreach education including Category 1 physician credits.
7. Work with base education leads to assist in scheduling of required LFOM training (Just Culture, Air Medical Crew Resource Management, new equipment competencies, etc)
8. Assist in the identification of educational gaps within LifeFlight of Maine as well as Maine EMS agencies
9. Participate in the development of proprietary courses and educational programs
10. Develop content in collaboration with target audience and subject matter experts
11. Maintain Learning Management System
12. Prepare content reflective of the expected outcomes and current evidence-based practice
13. Assist in the development and maintenance of curriculum for a CCT provider residency program
14. Provide primary oversight of the education team and will provide input into their annual evaluations.
