Job Overview

Davies Claims Solutions is looking for an experienced Senior Claims Adjuster with a focus on Casualty adjusting who will be responsible for investigating and evaluating losses while developing a plan of action to bring claims to a proper resolution in a timely manner. Reporting to the Liability Claims Supervisor, you will determine the extent of insurance coverage and liability on each filed claim.

To be successful in this role, you need to have superb communication skills, both verbal and written, be able to multi-task and prioritize with excellent organization and documentation skills and demonstrate superior time management skills with the capability of working with and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. You must have at least 5 years of experience handling Property, Casualty, and Liability claims. Additionally, you will need to have a high level of attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving skills. This role is a full-time, home-based position.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Evaluate claim detail, determine the extent of insurance coverage and liability, and address compensability and causation on each claim
  • Initiate investigation of claims and interview claimants, clients, employees, employers, and witnesses
  • Obtain necessary records, including but not limited to, hospital records, police reports, and physician records
  • Conduct NMVTIS and CMS/Section 111 reporting
  • Utilize appropriate preferred vendors
  • Present thorough and accurate reports to clients and excess carriers on claims investigations and situations
  • Negotiate settlements for resolutions with claimants and their attorneys
  • Maintain control of litigation activities and costs per account requirements
  • Effectively address and maintain incoming Docuclass documents in a consistent and timely manner
  • Attend meetings, mediations, conferences, workshops, or training sessions
  • Review written material to sustain current knowledge on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas
  • Respond to client questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner
  • Adjust claims associated with complex litigation and other sensitive issues
  • Provide regular property work progress reports to clients and carriers
  • Use standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks
  • Potential travel will be required for claim or scene investigations as necessary

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience handling multiple lines of coverage including but not limited to auto liability, general liability, bodily injury, heavy equipment, property damage, E&O, and police liability
  • Hold an active Adjuster License as needed
  • Maintain CEU credits for state licenses required to perform duties of the position
  • Conduct investigations in multi-party situations
  • Previous experience with negotiating and settling of claims (TPA)
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Thorough knowledge of current principles and practices associated with claims investigations, adjustment, and related practices
  • Understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions
  • Capable of understanding multi-state laws and regulations to assist other offices, as necessary
  • Extensive knowledge of medical and legal terminology with a thorough understanding of legal principles and litigation management
  • Exhibit a strong ability to prepare and present accurate, reliable, and factual reports with recommendations
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of current principles and practices associated with claims investigations, adjustment, and related practices
  • Demonstrate capability to use standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks
  • Possess ability and willingness to learn quickly and utilize new skills resulting from rapidly changing information and/or technology

Preferred


  • Bachelor’s degree in business or another related field
  • Tennessee-based
  • Multi-state licensure

Position Type, Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a home-based, full time, salaried, exempt position that predominantly operates remotely from a professional home-based office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk. This is a largely sedentary role requiring the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand, as necessary.
