Job Title: Senior Civil Engineer

Duties/Responsibilities
- Provides professional Civil Engineering and construction management support by serving as the organizational subject matter expert on standards and practices for Civil Engineering designs on coastal restoration, dredging, and marsh creation projects.
- Demonstrate experience reviewing submittals, responding to contractors' questions, RFIs/RFCs and construction schedules.
- Identify contract deficiencies, construction deficiencies and project issues.
- Review requests for equitable adjustment and claims.
- Perform bi-monthly and recurring construction inspections.
- Make written recommendations to the COR regarding construction; compute time extensions; and assist in preparing documents for change orders and claims.
- Provide technical interpretations of drawings and specifications; provide engineering determinations on meeting the contract requirements; make practical determinations from a construction standpoint.
- Participate in design reviews of and provides comments on contractor submittals on designs and plans.
- Provide quality assurance and safety oversight, documentation of such oversight, and recommended corrective actions.
- Assist in interpreting and enforcing contractual provisions regarding contractor civil requirements and deliverables.
Education/Experience:
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as Civil Engineer on large complex multimillion dollar federal construction projects, which involves coastal restoration, dredging, and marsh creation
- Experience with Resident Management System (RMS), preferred
- Construction management experience of projects in Alabama, more specifically in areas in the vicinity of Mobile Harbor
- US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) or other federal project experience
Physical Requirements:
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
