Senior Business Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled and detailed-oriented finance professional to join our dynamic team. As a Business Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting project management activities, analyzing data, and ensuring the successful execution of various projects within the organization. The Business Analyst is responsible for project cash flow management, revenue recognition, revenue forecasting, project risk analysis, investigator grant payment forecasting and various internal and external deliverables. The Business Analyst will report directly to the Senior Director of Finance and Administration and will performs duties in accordance with ProSciento’s values, policies, and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Study Specific Analysis:

• Partner with business development and budgeting & contracting departments in order to maximize revenue and achieve revenue objectives.
• Support project financial month close activities through invoicing, revenue recognition and revenue forecasting processes.
• Take financial ownership of project budget and contract.
• Monitor all aspects of project budget to minimize financial risks and maximize profitability.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses on a study level.
• Assist project management with pass-through budget management and Purchase Order requirements.
• Ensure project is financially on track and on budget.
• Monitor out-of-scope and support in the Change Order process.
• Build a strong partnership with various departments and functional areas.
• External reporting to customer – monthly and quarterly reporting of project financial details – professional fees, pass through fees, investigator grant fees, and other customer needs.
• Support project teams with overburn/underburn analysis and reporting of project financial health at monthly project review meetings.
• Prepare final study reconciliations.
• Prepare profit and cash flow analyses.

• Assist with preparation and submission of site visit payments and sponsor billings.
• Take ownership of key tools and analyses used in executive level reporting.

• Lead the creation of tools, dashboards, and analysis that provide transformational financial impacts and improvements to ProSciento.

• Play a lead role in ensuring the project team’s financial deliverable deadlines are met and that the project teams have resources, tools, and trainings to comply with deliverable deadlines.
• Provide routine training to project staff on financial acumen to ensure strong business understanding.
• Provide as needed training to new hires within the finance and accounting departments.
• Assist the Senior Director of Finance and Administration with essential corporate reporting, analysis, and business process oversight.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in accounting, finance, economics, or related business field, plus 5-7 years of financial analyst experience in a clinical research setting or similar environment, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Revenue recognition and cost accounting experience a plus. CPA/CMA certification preferred but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

All of the above, plus experience with month-end/quarter-end/year-end close and financial statement generation. Must be able to work independently while partnering across functions. Ability to organize data and information effectively and communicate with professionalism and clarity to management, sponsors, and vendors. Ability to team with FP&A professionals as well as business counterparts with limited or no FP&A experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as commercial contracts, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), procedural manuals, governmental and clinical regulations, and similar documents. Able to communicate effectively to employees, cross departmentally, in management groups, and group meeting settings.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent computer skills with excellence in Excel, and proficiency in other standard work tools including Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and other software applications. Ability to quickly learn and use new software systems. Hands on experience with accounting software packages such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or equivalent.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Verification of educational requirements, employment history, professional references, and certifications/training and U.S. work authorization.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, remotely or in a hybrid arrangement based on approval from the department manager/supervisor.
