SCHEDULE: Hybrid (3/2)

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time/Salary (Exempt)

REPORTS TO: Senior Manager of Human Resources

ABOUT GRAIN CRAFT:

Grain Craft is a dynamic and high-performance milling company with 12 manufacturing mills in seven (7) states, stretching coast-to-coast. As the largest private flour milling company in the nation, Grain Craft has an immediate opening in our Chattanooga, TN corporate office for a full-time Senior Benefits Consultant. JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Benefits Consultant to join the HR department at Grain Craft. You will administrate our benefits program, including health insurance, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and other benefit programs. The Senior Benefits Consultantwill ensure that team members are able to enroll for their benefits and other insurance options, and they know how their benefits work. The incumbent will build a strong partnership with external business partners, including the company’s benefit brokerage firm, and insurance provider representatives.

To be successful in this position, the Senior Benefits Consultant should have excellent problem-solving skills, solid knowledge of benefits administration, excellent communications (written and verbal), organizational skills and a solid understanding of various benefits processes. The top candidates will also be strong communicators, able to explain relevant benefit information to employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILLITIES:

  • Proven success in benefits administration, ADP WorkforceNow, and communications.
  • Provides guidance to home office and field team members to ensure the benefit program and plan design is known and understood.
  • Communicates benefit program updates, procedures, open enrollment, and updates to all team members. Conducts presentations that educate team members about their benefits and inform them about any changes to the benefits structure.
  • Partners with the internal and external business partners responsible for defined benefit plans and services to ensure associated processes are managed and delivered according to the Plan’s/programs requirements, contract terms, external regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Recommends and Implements plan design, benefit strategies, processes, changes, ensuring integrity in new data exchange.
  • Oversees the annual Open Enrollment by handling timeline/planning with the ADP online enrollment, vendors, the communications department, and our third-party benefit brokerage firm.
  • Establishes new accounts with carriers/vendors where applicable; ensures updated Plan documents and oversees communication strategy.
  • Responds to team members’ inquiries and conducts Open Enrollment post-mortem analysis.
  • Implement and oversee affordable wellness initiatives such as fliers, on-site events, gym discount program, etc.
  • Works closely with consulting team to ensure compliance, remain up to date on benefit trends and constantly evaluate solutions to acute benefit challenges/issues and long-term strategy.
  • Suggests creative solutions to unique challenges of managing health & welfare benefits and makes recommendations for benefit plan changes based on day-to-day observances and interactions and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Utilize vendor platforms to understand claim and utilization data.
  • Utilizes the ADP WorkforceNow system for the purpose of completing regular reports for the HR team, and others as needed.
  • Assures compliance with provisions of the Affordable Care Act and other applicable benefit laws. Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and reports necessary or suggested changes to management. Coordinate company benefits with government-sponsored programs.
  • Prepares quarterly benefits reports by writing slide content, drafting/editing slides, preparing charts and exhibits to facilitate content discussion during meetings, and speak to slides during the meeting as appropriate.
  • Handles benefit inquiries from employees quickly, accurately, and compassionately via by phone and/or other communication methods.
  • Manages COBRA benefits for eligible recipients, as well as managing benefits payments for those active team members on Worker’s Comp.
  • Manages vendors by attending scheduled conferences, closely monitoring claims, reconcile payments, ensure timely and cost-effective renewal, tracking stop-loss reimbursements, escalate any issues with any plan experienced by the HR team or team members/dependents.
  • Completes special projects by project objectives; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, related field, or experience equivalent within Benefits Administration/HR
  • 5 years minimum experience working in benefits administration.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), and/or Group Benefits Associate (GBA) certifications preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail.
  • Strong computer literacy and experience with payroll software. Strong Microsoft Office Skills with a focus on Excel and PowerPoint.
  • 3 years’ experience working in an HRIS and/or Benefits Administration system, preferably ADP WorkforceNow.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly organized work ethic.
  • Creative problem solvers with a can-do attitude.
  • Strong work ethic. Someone who understands and possesses a willingness to work hard and work smart. Someone who is a self-starter, who is dependable and takes responsibility for their own actions and behavior.
  • Must be able to travel 15% of the time; may be higher during benefit seasonal events.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common readings and vendor contracts. Ability to respond to common inquiries and effectively present information to Manager, HR Team, and employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to apply basic algebraic and statistical concepts as needed relating to common job-related tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal working conditions include working in an office environment with minimal travel. This position will be subject to aggressive timetables and project deadlines in the support of the HR team and overall benefits administration. There will be multiple, competing, high-priority activities that must be addressed concurrently.

NOTE: Grain Craft currently has a ‘hybrid’ work schedule that includes performing work in the office environment on a set schedule and also remotely. This may be subject to change.
