Gensler New York is searching for an experienced (15+ years) Aviation Planner to join our New York office. The ideal candidate will be well versed in planning airport passenger terminal facilities with advanced knowledge of current aviation industry regulations pertaining to airport terminal planning. As an Aviation Planner, you will integrate the diverse needs of passengers, tenants, employees, and owners into resilient airport facilities that bring surprise and delight through experience-focused, award-winning aviation design.

What You Will Do
  • Airport terminal planning.
  • Develop, elaborate, and evaluate planning concept alternatives for major elements of airport infrastructure including airfield, passenger terminal, landside access, cargo, and support areas.
  • Produce airport master planning, system planning, airfield planning, terminal planning, and environmental studies.
  • Facility requirements analysis including coordination of design day flight schedule analysis and reports with outside consultants.
  • Coordination of vertical transportation analysis, studies, and reports.
  • Coordination of baggage handling system planning and design.
  • Prepare technical presentations, reports, scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for airport planning studies.
  • Apply FAA/ICAO/IATA/ACRP criteria and regulations to effectively communicate and collaborate with project team and clients.
  • Work on several projects or issues concurrently.
  • Participate in public meetings, public hearings, agency meetings, and coordinate with airport stakeholders.
  • Fluent with key industry planning guidance, including but not limited to, ACRP, IATA ADRM, FAA, USCBP and TSA amongst other key regulatory references.
  • Lead and direct spreadsheet-based demand capacity analyses.
  • Leads capacity analyses for airport facilities supported by analytical results.
  • Coordinates design day flight schedules (DDFS) with forecasting team as a key input to simulation modeling.
  • Prepares technical reports for airport planning studies including simulation assumptions.
  • Interprets and oversees airport simulation models.
  • Highly responsive to client requests.
  • Prepares stakeholder and public presentations.
  • Helps build client relationships.
  • Assists with business development activities including proposal preparation and interviews.
  • Mentors junior and mid-level staff.

Your Qualifications
  • Architectural degree with focus on aviation planning.
  • 15+ years of experience in the aviation field with recent terminal planning assignments.
  • Knowledge of current aviation industry regulations pertaining to airport terminal planning is required.
  • Familiarity with all terminal, landside and airside components.
  • Recent experience contributing to terminal facility planning design, phasing and implementation projects.
  • Experience managing aviation planning projects, preparing scope of work, project budgets and working collaboratively with project teams to ensure delivery of high-quality project deliverables.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communications (oral, verbal and written) skills are required for our fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars and Orders that pertain to airport planning and design.
  • Architectural License preferred.
  • Knowledge of NFPA requirements as they relate to airport projects.
  • Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and other graphics related programs.
  • Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp or other 3-D modeling programs a plus.

**The base salary will be estimated between $125K to $145k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
