- Build market awareness of Resonance capabilities in Climate and SME finance through thought leadership. Provide technical inputs on climate rationale, theory of change, logical framework, investment criteria, and budget and procurement plans.
- Guide development of financing instruments to incentivise the private sector to invest in climate change adaptation and mitigation programs and projects.
- Deepen Resonance’s corporate capabilities by developing and delivering finance-focused learning and training opportunities for Resonators. (developing technical briefs, training decks, and other knowledge-sharing content and disseminating it through networks and knowledge management systems.)
- Participate in activities to build a strong knowledge culture at Resonance by developing technical briefs, training decks, and other knowledge-sharing content and disseminating it through networks and knowledge management systems.
- Enhance Resonance’s offering by refining and enhancing our service lines in the SME Finance and Climate Finance segments, leveraging synergies with existing Resonance capabilities in entrepreneurial ecosystems and climate adaptation and resilience.
- Expand Resonance's business development opportunities by infusing our global development and corporate sustainability business development efforts with a strong finance advisory dimension.
- Drive client value and satisfaction by serving as a technical advisor and/or subject matter expert in SME/Entrepreneurial Finance, supply chain financing, blended finance, nature-based solutions, results-based financing, parametric insurance, etc. Provide written summaries and analyses of:
- Innovative climate finance vehicles such as blended finance, green banks, green and sustainability-linked bonds, debt swaps, and multilateral
- Technical topics include USAID, World Bank, Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office, other development finance institutions, donor projects, and programs.
- Multilateral climate funds’ projects and programs (Green Climate Fund, Global Environment Facility, Adaptation Fund, Climate Investment Funds, etc.
- Private sector sustainability and climate initiatives such as ESG, supply chain greening, industry certifications, improved sourcing, and emissions reductions and offsetting
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- MBA or MA in finance, economics, or related fields strongly desired.
- 8+ years of professional experience in SME finance, climate finance or related fields, particularly agribusiness.
- Demonstrated expertise in two or more areas: SME finance, nature-based solutions, supply/value chain financing, or blended finance.
- Demonstrated experience structuring funds, financial models and/or strategic advisory.
- Demonstrated experience successfully working in an emerging markets context, in global development, corporate sustainability or innovative finance role.
- Familiarity with emerging climate-related frameworks – TFCD, TFND, SBTI, ESRS, etc.
- Familiarity with financial inclusion principles, particularly regarding Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE).
- Familiarity with USAID approaches to SME finance and market systems, particularly using pay-for-results grants.
- Experience with transaction advisory (buy or sell-side), due diligence, equity and debt raises.
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS
This role requires domestic and international travel on short notice up to 25%.
This position operates in a professional office environment, and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
