Senior Associate, Civil Engineer

The Senior Associate, Civil Engineeringis responsible for providing support to utility-scale Solar, Onshore Wind, and Battery Storage Projects in North America. They act as a Civil Subject Matter Expert for Projects during the Development and Construction phases.
Responsibilities:

• Perform due diligence on early to mid-stage development projects (including potential project acquisitions) in order to identify fatal flaws and key design risks.
• Contract and manage the studies needed to de-risk projects and allow detailed engineering designs to progress. This includes topographic and ALTA surveys, hydrology studies, and geotechnical surveys.
• Support Development with identifying and obtaining the permits necessary for the construction of projects. Permits may include NPDES Permit, DOT permits, drainage district permits, and ,utility easements.
• Provide civil quantity estimates for Construction to price and include in financial models.
• Provide input into the civil scope of work for the balance of plant agreements.
• Review all aspects of the civil design for projects to ensure that all site constraints are factored in and applicable standards and best practices are followed.
• Evaluate opportunities for optimization in order to reduce LCOE.
• Support Construction by responding to RFIs and ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution to roadway, drainage, geotechnical, and structural engineering issues.
• Assist with civil, geotechnical, and structural documentation of construction activities. Respond to technical questions from potential investors and independent engineers.
• Create internal standards and look for ways to improve existing processes.
• Travel for work up to 20%. Includes periodic site visits to microsite layouts, attends monthly construction meetings, and monitors construction progress.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited school (or substantially equivalent). A Master's Degree is a plus.
• A minimum of three years of Civil Engineering experience with at least one year of utility-scale renewable energy experience. Solar experience is a plus.
• Experience reviewing civil design packages.
• Experience with grading design and earthwork analysis.
• Knowledge of stormwater management regulations and best practices.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS software is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Enjoys working in multidisciplinary project teams in a dynamic environment
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position inNew York is $91,000 - $137,000 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
