The Colwell Law Group is a rapidly growing law firm with three convenient locations throughout New York State. Our firm is seeking a Matrimonial and Family Law Attorney to join our hardworking, professional, and dedicated legal team. As a member of The Colwell Law Group’s legal team, you will assist in navigating and representing individuals during difficult times in their lives. Our legal team represents clients in practice areas including but not limited to Divorce, Child Custody, Child Support, and Domestic Violence related issues. The ideal candidate for this position can maintain their composure, demonstrate strong negotiation skills, and can argue in emotional and high-stress situations.
Compensation:$100,000+ yearly
Responsibilities:- Manage a personal case load meticulously
- Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgments, and orders
- Communicate with senior partners, attorneys, and legal support staff to effectively move through the litigation process
- Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing their situation, and forming a strategic plan of action
- Ensure clients are effectively represented at court appearances, conferences, hearings, and trials
- Attend legal team meetings and monthly case reviews organized by the Director of Legal or the Regional Managing Attorney
- Must be admitted to practice law in New York State
- Demonstrates strong negotiation and communication skills
- Litigation experience
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Strong professional judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Must have worked 5 plus years handling family law cases
