Position Summary

Supports STERIS application of enterprise software packages, including discovery, definition, consultation, and integration for optimum usability, workflow, and sustaining of software solutions for new and existing networked medical devices and medical device data handling systems. Analyzing product/system-level architecture and capabilities, assessing customer infrastructures and workflow as relates to the product/system, and translating them into implementation requirements. Resolve emergent technical discoveries and develop new and innovative solutions for supporting our customers. Provides support and consultation to product and field management. This position works independently and within a cross-functional team without continuous supervision.

Duties

  • Contributes to customer project planning, analysis, and generation of customer implementation specifications and proposes solutions for test and production environments that are aligned with the capabilities and configurable of the software application for maximum user satisfaction and minimum upfront and long-term cost.
  • Develops customer-facing technical and implementation documentation to facilitate commercial understanding in collaboration with marketing and implementation teams.
  • Develops strategic tools and/or methods required to derive and capture optimum and reusable solutions.
  • Develop strategic tools and/or methods required to perform system-level testing of software applications, including workflow validation of implemented solutions in collaboration with the customer.
  • Provides input to development teams for improving software applications based on customer input and implementation needs.
  • Develops time and effort estimates for customized configurations.
  • Collaborates with third party OEMs to ensure conformance to industry standards and integrated device compatibility.
  • Participates in design reviews to identify issues and provides recommendations for enhancements.
  • Works independently on routine activities, including project planning, supporting application and/or security questionnaires, and implementation escalations.
  • Identifies bottlenecks and bugs, and devises solutions to these problems.
  • Identifies and captures software defects change requests.
  • Reviews and approves plans and detailed designs.
  • Supports design transfer activities including supporting deployment of customized network and IT implementations.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering required with 3 or more years of related engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in above noted field with 1 or more years of related engineering experience (a degree in another Engineering discipline may be acceptable with proven software education and/or training and 3 or more years of demonstrated software experience).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong problem-solving skills are required.
  • Capable of solving engineering problems through accurate interpretation of requirements and test results.
  • Exceptional team player with customer experience.
  • Experience with the Linux operating system and server administration is required.
  • Experience with Ethernet, network architectures, network protocols, HTTP/HTTPS, SIP/H.323, and SSH is required.
  • Experience performing software requirement analysis and definition. Experience working with stakeholders to refine product requirements to be realized in software is desired.
  • Experience in the implementation of infrastructure and applications for Manufacturing, Installation, and Serviceability is desirable.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, multi-threaded/multi-tasking programming, and server-client architecture is desired.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in User Interface (UI)/Human Machine Interface (HMI) development is desired, which may include HMI touch screens or Graphical UIs.
  • An understanding of UX and human factors is desired.
  • Working knowledge of hospital network systems and compliance and including Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Vendor Neutral Archives (VNA), HIPAA, HL7, PACS, DICOM, and VPN connections.
  • Experience creating automated tests is desired.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, and containerization tools such as Docker is desired.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry that requires formalized software development processes and software risk management is desired. Medical device industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bash is desired.
  • Travel up to 20% (including international and medical facilities).
  • Contribute to overall software architecture design.
  • Determine design, configurability, build, deployment implementation, and upgradability for software system components.
  • Determine algorithms and parameters for complex product features and system-level interactions. Implement and test algorithms or manage the implementation and testing.
  • Identify design issues and determine corrections or enhancements.

Pay range for this opportunity is $90.250,00 - $121.485,00.


Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
