The Senior Ambulatory Data Analyst, Analytics, Reporting, and Insights (ARI) is responsible for identifying, querying, analyzing, and communicating through reports and presentations, a variety of data to support quality and patient experience initiatives throughout Brigham and Women's Hospital. The position requires close collaboration with clinical personnel, various analytic groups, and hospital leadership. The ARI team supports most domains of the hospital operations and includes areas such as patient experience, patient safety, clinical outcomes, asset utilization, and more. The successful candidate will form relationships with hospital leadership by becoming the go-to guide for data within his or her designated areas of expertise. Regular responsibilities include collecting requirements, performing qualitative and quantitative analyses, querying complex data, and sharing results in a digestible, visually appealing, way. In addition, the Senior Data Analyst will serve as a resource for other ARI data analysts and strengthen the team's wealth of knowledge and documentation.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:1. Elicits data and reporting requirements from hospital leadership, clinicians, and other staff, using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, site visits, use cases, and workflow analysis.
2. Queries and analyzes data from systems such as our electronic medical record system (Epic), enterprise data warehouse (EDW), SAS, external websites (NRC experience portal) , and more, to glean insights and produce useful reports for customers.
3. Presents data and analyses to key partners, including crafting materials and giving presentations as needed.
4. Designs, maintains, and distributes reports while coordinating ad hoc data analyses and new report development as needed.
5. Improves our analytical capabilities with SQL, Tableau, and other analytic platforms, including dashboard and report development, QA of existing reports, and documentation.
6. Performs comprehensive quality assurance, ensuring that data is accurate and meets end user specifications.
7. Shares knowledge in methods of data analysis, summarization, and presentation. Trains others on key analytic and reporting systems and databases.
8. Represents ARI on internal and external committees or task forces.
9. Performs all other related duties as required.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in management, information systems, statistics, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3-5 years of experience, preferably in a related analytics position.
- Proven grasp of relational databases, SQL, data visualization, and Business Intelligence tools.
- Knowledge and application of statistical analyses preferred.
- Healthcare knowledge preferred.
- Project management skills and/or experience a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong proficiency with Excel, manipulating large data sets and synthesizing into digestible information.
- Experience communicating data through the building of dashboards and reports using business intelligence software such as Tableau (preferred).
- Ability to communicate with staff at all levels within the organization including senior hospital management.
- Experience querying, manipulating, cleansing, and statistically analyzing data sets.
- Ability to clearly communicate sophisticated and sensitive data to senior leaders as well as peers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to tailor message to individuals and audiences throughout the institution.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and re-establish priorities as needed.
- Possesses initiative to work independently while thriving in a setting requiring collaboration and teamwork.
- Attention to detail that ensures follow through on all initiatives implemented, and all projects undertaken.
Location/Work environment:
ARI's main office is in Boston, MA. We are currently working primarily remote and encourage applications from across the New England area as telecommuting becomes a more regular part of our operations. We do expect team members to be able to work in-person on occasion.
