Job Description

Precision Neuroscience is building a direct connection between the human brain and computers, to benefit the hundreds of millions of people worldwide suffering from neurological conditions. Established in 2021, we are a leader in the development and commercialization of brain–computer interfaces (BCI).

As a Precision employee, you will be collaborating with experts across a diverse array of fields–including neurosurgery, mechanical engineering, machine learning, and microfabrication–to push the boundaries of what is possible. You will be joining a well capitalized and fast-moving company. In the two years since Precision’s founding, we have built and validated a product and have begun human trials in partnership with some of the country’s leading neurosurgery programs. And you will be working toward a deeply meaningful goal: restoring function to people living with devastating neurological conditions, including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegenerative disease such as ALS. Our platform will enable these individuals to regain independence, communicate with loved ones, and return to work.

We are seeking a Senior Analog, Mixed-Signal (AMS) IC Designer to join our hardware engineering team in developing electronics for our implantable brain-computer interface (BCI). Candidates with deep industry experience may be considered for lead level roles (at the individual contributor level).

In this role you will contribute to a well-defined application while working with a team that is at the top of its field.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to join our core team. Your work will see commercialization quickly so that we improve the lives of patients who live with neurological disorders in a matter of months and years, not decades.

This position is on-site and applicants can opt to work from our offices in NYC, Mountain View (CA), Minneapolis or Addison (TX). We are unable to consider candidates who are not currently in the US with working rights.

You will:

  • Design and develop analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for our implant such as Power Management Units (PMU), Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC), Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC), Phase-Locked Loops (PLL), High-Speed Drivers, Neural Amplifiers, and Neural Stimulators.
  • Perform schematic capture, layout, pre- and post- layout simulations, Montecarlo and corner analysis, and top-level integration.
  • Complete hands-on testing tasks with lab instrumentation such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and vector network analyzers.
  • Perform chip tapeouts, testing and characterization.
  • Collaborate with industry leading manufacturing partners on fabrication of some components of our device.
  • Create and update end-user technical documentation, product specifications and vendor procedures.
  • Participate in detailed, collaborative discussions about the impact of your designs on the overall BCI design. Such discussions are driven by the excellent, substantial feedback loop generated by our rigorous experiment schedule.
  • Collaborate with the rest of our team to publish and present our work.

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), or related field, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Expertise using industry standard EDA tools such as Cadence, Mentor (Cadence is preferred).
  • Experience designing analog, mixed-signal circuits in 180 nm or smaller processes.
  • Tape-out experience including successful testing and characterization.
  • Comfortable with using a range of lab instruments such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, etc.
  • Experience with low-power analog design, amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, PLLs, power management circuits (preferred).
  • Experience working with medical devices (preferred).

Diverse workforces create the best culture, company, and products. We at Precision Neuroscience are committed to an inclusive culture that celebrates the uniqueness and contributions of everyone. As an equal opportunity employer, Precision Neuroscience does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
