Sr. Staff Accountant

PURPOSE:
As a Sr. Staff Accountant, you report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for leading the month end close process including general ledger JE processing, account reconciliations, evaluating and tracking capital spend, and analyzing monthly department expenses. The individual will be part of a collaborative environment aimed at driving continuous improvements and have exposure to corporate leadership with a focus on harmonization efforts around both system and people driven processes.
This position is located at our Haverhill, MA facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the timely and accurate general ledger monthly close including booking monthly close journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, and analyzing corporate financials.
- Reconcile, analyze, and adjust general ledger accounts as necessary including accruals and reclasses.
- Maintain accurate detail in support of the general ledger account balances.
- Provide month and YTD variance analysis financial statements including balance sheet and P&L.
- Support department function owners in understanding financial results.
- Calculate and prepare monthly commission earnings.
- Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with GAAP principles.
- Assist with daily accounting activities but not limited to posting accounts receivables, accounts payable transactions, check disbursements, coding payroll.
- Support ad hoc analytical projects as assigned.
- Be present for Month End physical inventory counts for testing and completeness.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Must have BA/BS in Accounting; MBA or CPA is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of public and/or private accounting experience is required.
- CPG or Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
