About Ocient:
Ocient is a Chicago-based, venture-funded startup building a SQL compliant, exabyte-scale database platform that achieves better performance than Hadoop and NoSQL systems. It is a distributed system optimized for NVMe drives, RDMA networks and high core count processors and is written in C++. We are led by a management team with seven successful startup exits, including Cleversafe which was one of the largest software startups exit in Chicago’s history.
Ocient is looking to Hire a Temp to HireSenior Accountant to combine excellent analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles in order to successfully fulfill key responsibilities, as well as assist in other areas as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day accounting functions, including but not limited to Stock Compensation, Equity Plan Management, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Accounting.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in compliance with GAAP and the company’s policies and procedures to ensure that transactions are recorded timely. Ensure that workpapers are properly organized and documented.
- Research complex technical accounting issues and prepare drafts of financial accounting memos.
- Support and participate in monthly financial reporting process and prepare monthly close packages for management, including budget to actual variance analysis and account reconciliations.
- Provide ad-hoc reporting to COO and CEO and assist with special projects.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and work with management team to provide updated financial plan.
- Prepare GAAP compliant annual financial statements and support financial audit. Interface with Human Resources Team as needed to facilitate payroll and other HR related processes.
Required Skills
- Experience with Netsuite or other ERP software, experience with Concur and Carta preferred
- Experience drafting financial statements, including preparing financial statement footnotes and statements (including balance sheets, income statements, statement of cash flows, etc.)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
