Senior Accountant

People Incorporated is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our accounting and finance team. This role will perform a multitude of accounting duties and analysis with consolidated financial statements, balance sheets and general ledger accounts. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for conducting monthly reconciliations, verifying accuracy of general ledger accounts and making recommendations for any corrections so data is accurate for decision makers and reporting purposes.

Hours: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, regular business hours

Location: Eagan, MN. Hybrid position - some in-person presence required for meetings, primarily remote work after onboarding and training completed

Hiring Range: $63,500 - $69,000 based on qualifications **$1,000 Hiring bonus to external candidates**

Main Job Duties:

• Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
• Maintain record of accruals, prepaid assets, LTD, fixed assets & depreciation records and other assigned balance sheet accounts. This includes preparing, entering and reconciling general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
• Complete complex reconciliations to payroll, billing, advancement and other systems that interface with the accounting records. Initiates analysis and resolution of discrepancies by working collaboratively the appropriate staff and management to identify and resolve issues and update procedures.
• Maintain daily record of bank transactions, monitoring cash balances and assisting programs with questions about their check registers. This involves processing bank transfers in accordance with established procedures and partnering with bank representatives in resolving any outstanding issues and reviewing all supporting documentation.
• Budget development, cost tracking, documentation and billing for cost based grants. Maintain understanding of allowable costs and monitoring the timely receipt of payments Analyze actual expenses against budget and inform management of variances.
• Participate in annual independent audits and other audits by external regulatory agencies.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Accounting.
• Minimum of four years of prior accounting experience.
• Intermediate level knowledge of Excel with proficiency using pivot tables, lookups and logical formulas.
• Experience developing and editing business intelligence reports to ensure financial reporting requirements are met.
• Preference given to candidates with prior accounting experience within a not-for-profit work environment.
