Job Title: Senior Accountant, Payroll
Department: Corporate Accounting
Reports to: Principal Manager, Payroll
Work Location: Bethesda, MD.
Position Overview
The Senior Payroll Accountant will be a part of DAI's corporate payroll team. S/he will be an independent, hands-on, and self-directed individual responsible for multiple aspects of the corporate payroll function that reports to DAI's Principal Payroll Manager, US. S/he will work closely with other members of the payroll and accounting team to drive DAI's priorities and objectives.
The Senior Payroll Accountant will support DAI's new ERP implementation as well as the legacy system timecard and allowance process. S/he will process payroll using ADP WFN and Oracle, payroll reconciliations, and analysis. As part of the ERP implementation s/he will support the Principal Payroll Manager with the requirements gathering and process documentation efforts, data cleansing, data migration and data validation tasks, system and functionality testing and documentation of results. As part of the semi-payroll processing, s/he will assist with the preparation of W2s, payroll and non-payroll allowances, timecard corrections, and state registration compliance. S/he will log and track legacy system payroll related issues, perform payroll reconciliations and other semi-monthly reporting tasks as assigned by the Principal Payroll Manager.
This is a full-time, permanent position. This role will close on Monday, May 27.
Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
* Responsible for processing the Microvest semi-monthly payroll using ADP Workforce Now (WFN). This will require coordination with HR and Accounting.
* Responsible for processing the monthly shadow payroll for Dual National citizens.
* Prepare taxable allowances for employees working on foreign assignments and correctly report on their W2's per IRS guidelines.
* Work with other departments (IT, MIS, and HR) to log, track, and resolve legacy system (Oracle) issues.
* Assist Payroll colleagues with timecard corrections to make changes to invoices sent to USAID and Inter-company clients.
* Custom build and generate ADP payroll reports using ADP WFN as needed.
* Assist with external audits including preparation of necessary supporting documentation.
* Register state SUI accounts to bring DAI compliant with state unemployment regulations.
ERP Implementation
* Assist with ERP requirement gathering sessions and preparation of necessary business process requirements and documentation.
* Assist with data cleansing, migration, and data validation tasks.
* Assist with ERP functionality testing and documentation of test results.
* Assist with training and change management initiatives related to the new ERP go-live.
* Review payroll procedures and work with Payroll Manager to identify business process issues and gaps. Implement changes to improve processes.
Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Requirements:
* Grade P6: Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in payroll processing and a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
* Experience with multi-state and/or international payroll environments.
* Prior experience with: ADP Workforce Now; ADP Custom Reporting; Oracle; tax equalization policies.
* Experience with ERP implementations.
* Self-directed with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks/competing deadlines simultaneously.
* Must be comfortable with and embrace working at a very detailed level (for example, calculating pay and entering employee pay data).
* High level of computer literacy with advanced Excel skills.
* Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Able to handle confidential and/or sensitive information with discretion.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external clients, and tailor communication style to diverse audiences.
* Able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization and external clients from diverse backgrounds.
* Able and willing to adjust work schedule, if needed, to support teams located in different time zones/countries.
* Demonstrated ability to work in diverse teams, create inclusive work environments, and work effectively within a culturally diverse environment.
* Authorized to work in USA.
Preferred, but not required:
* Working knowledge of SAP.
* Experience managing automation initiatives and change.
* VISA taxation for non-US employees working within the US; secondment policies.
* Knowledge of Department of State (DOS) allowance schedules.
* Experience in researching, developing, and implementing payroll policies and procedures.
Compensation & Benefits
At the P6 level, for employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $94,780 to $111,506
Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.
Eligible U.S. based employees, will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, parental leave; as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.
