Job description
We are currently hiring a Senior Accountant to join our team based in Palm Beach Gardens, working in a hybrid remote work setting. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager and will be an integral team member in the accounting department and will be actively involved in the integration of newly acquired hospitals. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the oversight and management of all general ledger accounting activities. This is a unique opportunity where that you will actively participate in the development of policies and procedures that will align with the accounting department and cross-functional growth initiatives of UVC. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional who has a strong understanding of internal controls and is accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all assigned accounting functions and general ledger transactions.
Assist with review of general ledgers, preparation of month-end accruals, and analytical review of financial reports.
Record payroll within the accounting system and reconcile to third-party payroll vendor reports.
Develop and maintain fixed assets and intangible asset schedules and record monthly activities.
Maintain and reconcile lease schedules in accordance with ASC 842.
Maintain and reconcile prepaid expense activities on a weekly and monthly basis.
Actively participate in month-end close activities in accordance with UVC's established policies and timelines through active collaboration with UVC's accounting and cross-functional departments.
Ability to develop concise reconciliation and supporting workpapers.
Supervise and prepare the completion of assigned balance sheet reconciliations utilizing the UVC's reconciliation software, Blackline. Analyzing and resolving all discrepancies and/or aged reconciliation transactions.
Assist with the preparation of ad-hoc reports, as requested.
Communicate with accounting and various cross-functional teams, regularly reporting progress.
Assist with the development of standard operating procedures for various accounting and finance processes including the development of policy and procedure manuals.
Assist with the annual audit process.
Demonstrate "Service Excellence" in all interactions with internal and external customers.
Perform other job responsibilities and assist with other projects as assigned.
Demonstrate flexibility while operating in a highly professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Masters preferred.
Licensed CPA preferred.
3+ years of relevant general ledger accounting or public accounting experience.
Big 4 or National Public Accounting Firm experience, required.
Demonstrated leader.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently. Detail oriented with solid organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities or reprioritization of projects.
Sage Intacct and Blackline experience a plus.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, including advanced knowledge and understanding of concepts of databases, filtering data, use of mathematical, logical, and financial functions within Excel
Proficient understanding of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles.
Demonstrated ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong work ethic and willing to go the extra mile.
Takes initiative and approaches issues with an analytical mindset.
Works well under pressure and is accustomed to strict deadline deliverables.
Multi-location retail and/or healthcare background, a plus.
