Senior Accountant
Job Description
Senior Accountants are responsible for accounting support. Governmental and third party reimbursement accounting for all Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Systems corporations and prepares cost reports, financial reports, contracts budget, statistical analyses, monthly reports, and other ad hoc reports as required. Coordinates and participates in the preparation of the capital and operating budgets. Assists Accounts Payable Payroll when needed and with the interdependencies with the general ledger and these sub-systems. Serves as an internal resource for other accounting staff in regards to technically complex or difficult issues. Assists Management Team and other departmental areas on financial items and reimbursement issues.

Starting salary: $57,574.40+
Responsibilities
Analyzes and interprets data from various sources such as departmental volume statistics, revenue reports, accounts payable, materials management, and cash transaction reports, develops problem analysis and recommendations for improvement. Identifies trends and advises financial leadership regarding significant issues., Assembles all financial and statistical information necessary to prepare Financial reports and other submissions to governmental and other third-party agencies to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement from those agencies for services provided., Assists the Chief Accounting Officer with development of financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis, which will assist in decision-making., Collects and studies data to determine costs of business activities. Interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance. May recommend budget adjustments in revenue and/or cost improvement measures., Coordinates, participates, develops financial systems and spreadsheet tools, trains, and functions as an internal resource for the development of the operating and capital budgets with Management Team by gathering data, organizing information, analyzing reasonableness and providing reports. Provide guidance and direction to other accounting staff with the budget preparation., Keeps abreast and of the laws, regulations, and standards and applies this working knowledge to ensure compliance with governmental and regulatory agencies and third-party payers., Keeps the Chief Accounting Officer informed of circumstances in areas under his/her direction., Maintains a working relationship with external auditors and reimbursement consultants regarding changes in reimbursement laws and regulations; keeps executive management informed of changes., Prepares tax returns and/or supporting documents for assigned areas/entities., Responds to requests for assistance and information from other System employees as rapidly as possible without compromising the integrity of the information and without missing assigned deadlines., Serves as an internal resource to other accountants and departmental directors and managers on resolution of problematic areas and areas of expertise., Uses various financial system modules in the performance of duties, such as accounts payable, abstracting, fixed asset, billing accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll., Utilize the data in the execution of journal entry preparation, financial statement development, working with external auditors, revenue and expense analysis, maintaining accurate account balances including reconciliation of accounts, correction of system transaction errors, working with leadership, etc. in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
