Job Details

Principal Responsibilities:
Internal Reporting

• Preparation of monthly Flash Report, Board Report of companies full month results pack
• Ensure that all business weekly sales and backlog are properly loaded, and identify any trends that require investigation
• Regular communication with the business finance teams on month-to-date performance, one-off transactions in the month, forecast adjustments etc.
• Calculation and allocation of various management charges – working capital levy, carbon charge, digital charge etc.
• Ensure compliance with Group Accounting Manual and consistency of approach across the businesses

External Reporting

• Liaise with Group external auditor for the preparation of interim and year-end audits, with regular updates on any significant audit findings and their remediation
• Assist the finance teams on the preparation for the half-year and full-year statutory packs.

Monitoring of Key Metrics

• Monitor key financial metrics (e.g., margins, overhead %, warranty %, working capital, RoS, RoCE, order intake, backlog movements, cashflow) across the businesses and work with them to investigate deviations from benchmarks and agree remedial action if required.

KA Accounts & Administration

• Management of the companies head office budget/forecast, including preparation of P&L, cashflow and allocation of costs to the businesses.

Capex

• Ensure that any capex proposals are prepared in accordance with Group requirements, are properly input into the Group Capex Portal. Provide an additional level of challenge on the key aspects of the capex, especially the payback calculation.

Internal Audit

• Support the business finance teams as they prepare for internal audits, share best practice suggestions from other businesses, assist with the implementation of any control remediations, ensure deliverables meet the agreed timelines
• Assist the businesses with periodic balance sheet reviews.

Special Projects
Assist the businesses on new Group-wide initiatives e.g.:

• The migration to a new Group consolidation system
• Migration to new global insurance brokers, including new approach to the collation and validation of underwriting data.

M&A

• Support all M&A activities with a special focus on the due diligence process, the business model and post-acquisition support of the newly acquired finance function.

Business Support
Spearhead various ad hoc value-add supports for the businesses, for example:

• Assist in the recruitment process for staff within the business finance teams, and their subsequent onboarding and performance management; help with the development of succession plans
• Support the businesses in the assessment of their systems environment, including the suitability of their ERP
• Provide periodic training on miscellaneous finance related finance topics
• Regular updating of the monthly reporting template.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be numerate, have a strong financial controls mindset, ideally gained at a ‘Big 4’ audit firm and will be strongly analytical . They will be an ambitious self-starter, with excellent communication skills, and an ability to develop relationships with the finance teams in each business. They will be ‘tech savvy’, with a broad knowledge of systems and applications. They will have a keen interest in understanding the commercial and operations side of the business.
Education and Experience

• BA in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering Management, or a closely related field
• CPA licensed or CPS track preferred
• Ideally Big 4 background, with minimum of 4 years supervisory experience with manufacturing clients
• Some industry experience in manufacturing is preferred but not essential.

• Keenness to develop excellent relationships with the business finance teams, and Group Finance
• Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Power Point) and Outlook. Excel experience must be beyond basic formatting – an advanced level of comfort with large data sets, PIVOT tables and formulas is required
• Must be comfortable with business systems and applications, and generally be ‘tech savvy’
• Adaptable to a flexible work environment, and comfortable with regular travel.
