Accounting & OperationsWhat We Are Looking For:

We are looking for an experienced Internal Accountant to own our accounting and finance functions. The role requires a proven ability to perform daily accounting, AR, and AP activities. In addition to being well versed in job cost accounting, the Internal Accountant has a comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), possesses extreme attention to detail, and expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Duties associated with this role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Extensive use of PROCAS Accounting, Timekeeping, and Expense Reporting Software in a DCAA-compliant environment for Government Contractors.
  • Extensive use of Excel for all functions within the Accounting and Finance Department.
  • Extensive use of ADP – Payroll System.
  • Enter employees into PROCAS and allocate the appropriate CLINS/LCATS, Hours, and Rates, etc.
  • Create and submit contract invoices into Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) and all other government submission platforms.
  • Monitor payment portals weekly and provide AR Reports to ensure Net 30 for payments, record payments timely, and call customers for invoices not paid Net 30.
  • Validate and enter accounts payable for various contracts, task orders, and general operations of the firm.
  • Assist with monthly closing of the books to include reconciliation of all accounts (bank, payroll, credit cards, etc.), amortization of prepaid expenses, depreciation of fixed assets, posting all revenue and expenses, and other related as directed.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to include Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Profit & Loss by Contract, and various others.
  • Provide support for quarterly, annual, and periodic audit requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication within the workplace as well as with clients, outside vendors, subcontractors, and government agencies.
  • Assist with end-of-year tax documentation, including 1099 reports, apportionment, state and federal requirements, sales and use tax, and other local tax items.
  • Support special projects as requested.
  • Perform other administrative and analyst duties as assigned.

Expert Knowledge of the following:

  • Accounting, Timekeeping, and Expense Reporting for Government Contractors is required.
  • Create invoices and submit them across government payment portals.
  • Entering new employees and creating or running reports for multiple government contracts.
  • DCAA regulations, timekeeping and expense reporting, accounting and financial analysis, and project management.
  • Collecting, analyzing, tabulating, evaluating, and presenting data.
  • Personal computer operations, MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Creating and improving processes.
  • Defining problems, conducting research, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and formulating recommendations.
  • PROCAS Preferred (or will have to learn).
  • Take initiative and work independently.
  • Be well-organized and self-directed.
  • Apply and demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Provide guidance and accurate information.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree.
  • US Citizen.
  • Small to mid-size Government Contracting experience
  • Five (5) or more years’ of relevant experience performing corporate accounting, AR/AP and payroll activities.
  • Attention to detail, produce results quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Experience utilizing robust financial accounting systems.
  • Ability to perform financial transaction research and analysis activities.
  • Ability to interact with multiple financial services providers, including payroll, 401(k), and tax preparation.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with Firm Partners, associates, vendors, clients, and business partners.
  • Must live in the greater Washington DC region: DC, MD, or VA. The position currently requires the accountant to work at our corporate office in Crystal City, VA

Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure by the appropriate state licensing authority and be in good standing.
  • Master’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
