WHAT'S A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT I AT HOOK?
Working in a matrixed, adaptive environment, a successful Senior Accountant at Hook will bring a sense of ownership and eye for detail to our accounts payable and accounting functions. This person will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions related to accounts payable and payroll. This position involves handling sensitive financial data, processing invoices, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations through routine audits and month-end reconciliations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Manage the accounts payable system, which includes setting up vendors and providing payables reporting
- Process vendor payments; ensuring accurate and timely payments and securing all necessary payment approvals
- Procure content for projects as requested from production partners
- Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions and reconcile discrepancies
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve any issues or disputes related to payments or invoices
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes related to accounts payable
- Prepare annual 1099/NEC filings for tax purposes
- Facilitate efficient vendor contract lifecycle management by ensuring metadata continuity in Hook's legal document system
- Assist with tracking and reporting licensing renewals; following up with teams as needed to secure licensing renewals
- Assist in reviewing, developing and maintaining vendor and accounts payable policies and procedures
- Research potential vendor partners and assist in negotiations and contract execution
Payroll Accounting
- Collaborate with HR to update employee payroll information and benefits, ensuring accurate accounting of records and integration with the accounting system
- Reconcile and post payroll entries to the accounting system
- Prepare routine payroll reconciliations and audits for management and regulatory agencies; including workers' comp audits
- Act as backup for HR when needed to run payroll; including data entry, calculations, and deductions
Other
- Partner with business affairs leadership to assist with contract and licensing workflows, risk management and other compliance matters related to vendor relations and project execution
- Perform other duties and assist with other projects as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- A combination of 2-5+ years of experience or education in accounting with a focus on payables and reconciliations; vendor contract management and payroll experience a plus
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and ability to analyze financial data
- Strong attention to detail
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and a sense of ownership on projects
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and decision-making in complex environments
- Ability to independently problem solve and operate in a dynamic, time sensitive environment; supporting multiple teams, multiple projects and multiple time zones
