The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and will be involved in daily accounting functions across two sites and includes the accurate and timely preparation of financial management reports for month-end and year-end closings. Ideal candidates will be experienced with full-cycle accounting procedures and demonstrate a high level of professionalism. This position is a hands-on role and will be responsible for the Company's daily accounting activity including AR, AP and general ledger accounting and acts as a liaison with business managers to reconcile accounts. Duties also include preparing various analysis for sales, prepaids, accruals as well as assigned general ledger account reconciliations (supporting workpaper) for month-end and year-end closing for multiple entities. Also, ensures the integrity of financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.

It is the intent for the Senior Accountant to be promoted to an Accounting Manager role upon the retirement of the current Controller (within one year). The Accounting Manger role will supervise a Staff Accountant and will be responsible for performing and managing the daily and monthly reporting. In addition, the Accounting Manager will provide input into establishing, modifying, documenting, and coordinating new accounting and accounting control procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and manage AP entries, ensuring proper payment and account
  • Create entries for all outbound/inbound material invoicing and payments pertaining to material purchases.
  • Maintain deposit logs.
  • Responsible for timely cash applications to customer accounts.
  • Create and manage intercompany activity including analyses of accounts to verify proper posting of activity.
  • Prepares daily and monthly bank reconciliation for multiple bank accounts.
  • Enters all outbound material data (sales) into accounting Reconciles with manufacturing system to ensure all sales are properly recorded.
  • Maintains organized electronic & physical filing
  • Verifies and processes employee reimbursement/expense
  • Maintains and reconciles commercial credit card program on a monthly basis.
  • Prepares general ledger journal entries for month-end closing as well as assessments associated with accruals, amortizations, prepaids, reserve reviews etc. within internal close calendar constraints.
  • Prepares supporting workpapers (balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations) to the monthly financial statements for multiple entities.
  • Responsible for the annual physical inventory process which includes coordinating with all departments and outside auditing firm, actively planning and managing along with reconciling annual inventory.
  • Assists with related special projects and duties as assigned.
  • Process and manage annual 1099 filings.
  • Assists in developing reports and variance analysis regarding departmental operating budget/forecasting versus actual expenses.

  • Assists in day to day closing and reporting activities for multiple entities and ensures that the books are maintained in accordance with US GAAP.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS, BA in Accounting or related field or related years of experience (at least 5 years' multi facility and corporate experience). A CPA is a plus.
  • Experience in the Recycling industry a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare professional reports and business
  • Strong accounting skills with emphasis on inter-company transactions and general ledger accounting
  • Experience with AR/Collections and ability to navigate difficult situations with diplomacy and
  • Proficient to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office products (emphasis on Excel) and accounting software is critical; prior experience with QuickBooks is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and with the ability to work with individuals across all levels of the organization.
