Semi-Truck Painter

The painting process itself involves using paint sprayers and brushes to apply paint to trucks, determining the necessary application of paint for a thorough coat and checking for runs or sags in the paint to ensure a quality product. Formulate and apply mixed and dispensed automotive refinish material to truck surfaces and sub-assemblies in accordance with the Cosmetic Supervisors directions.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:

• Inspect refinish products to be used for proper formulation to meet color match and finish texture standards

• Refinish repaired surface

• Mix refinished products (primer, base and clear) in amounts required to cover designated area

• Ensure area to be used for application is properly vented

• Change ventilation filters as needed

• Apply refinish coating using approved and properly set High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) spray equipment

• Clean and maintain all paint formulation and spray application equipment and maintain paint and storage areas

• Ensure adequate supply of refinish products to meet production requirements

• Work in a safe manner, and wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Maintain paint inventory

• Daily use of advanced PC and business computer applications, telephone conferencing and e-mail.

• Performs other job-related duties assigned.

Required Education, Skills & Abilities:

• Minimum education: High School or its equivalent

• Experience in automotive paint

• Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential function of the job.

Physical demands include:

o Must be able to lift and carry 50+ pounds

o Constant hand, fingers, and arm use

o Must be able to climb up and down a ladder

o Ability to continuously stand or walk

o Ability to manipulate small hand tools

o Ability to bend, squat, and lift frequently

o Pushing and pulling objects weighing 50+ pounds
