Security Systems Engineer

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Associate degree in computer science, management information systems or a related field.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?

· The installation, preventative maintenance, functional testing, and operation of:

· Standard security and surveillance enclosures, mounts, racks, etc.

· Access control, intrusion detection, and surveillance hardware and devices.

· Servers, workstations, clients, etc.

· Typical network and communications equipment.

· Creation of documentation detailing the above

· Install and terminate Copper and fiber data communications cable and connectivity

· Set-up & program security, access control, intrusion, audio visual and CCTV system communications network

· Perform system troubleshooting

Experience:

• 3 years' experience installing low voltage structured cabling systems
• Experience installing Milestone and AXIS cameras
• Understand standard concepts, practices and procedures within industry
• Experience developing test plans, manage test articles, support and lead subsystem design verification activities through system integration.
• Incident, Problem, Change Management and Controls based on ITIL best practices, utilizing ServiceNow

**A combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements on a year for year basis.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of low voltage electronics, wiring, and color standards
• Knowledge of electrical color standards, connections, components (power supplies, resistors, etc.
• Knowledge of electrical and communications test equipment
• Proficient in MS Suite (Excel, Word and Visio)
• Basic understanding of electronics and Internet Protocol Addressing (IP Address).
• Experience with installation and configuration of Microsoft Windows based applications including MS SQL, access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance software.
• Basic Networking Principles
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of Communications Networks
• Basic Networking Principles
• System integration experience
• Previous experience working with government agencies
• Knowledge in the construction industry coordinating with trades

Licenses Required:

• Valid Colorado Driver's License.

Certificates Preferred (at least 1 required)

• Milestone Certifications
• Microsoft Certifications

WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical Demands:

• Light physical work requiring ability to life a maximum of 25 pounds, including lifting 10 pounds overhead.
• Occasional carrying, walking and standing.
• Vision to analyze data and read and interpret reports, documents and other written information.
• Hand/eye coordination for operation of computer keyboard.
• Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens.
• Capable of driving between city supported buildings and to meetings in the Denver metro area as needed.

Work Environment:

• Normally works in a clean, comfortable environment.
• System support issues may require working outside the office environment and in or around emergency response vehicles.
• Requires rotational on-call support status after normal business work hours.

Equipment Used:

• Standard business and professional tools and equipment including computers, laptop computers and mobile computing devices.

Compensation for Colorado: The salary for this position ranges from approximately $ 72,841.60 - $91,000 Annually depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
