Summary
Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises a nuclear security shift to ensure compliance with NRC regulatory commitments. Directly supervises South Texas Project (STP) Security Leads and a uniformed force of Security Officers. Additional responsibilities, when assigned, would include to provide overall administrative and technical supervision of the Performance Assessment Section to meet internal assessment, inspection, and evaluation requirements.
EDUCATION
• High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
• 3 years armed Security Officer at a Nuclear facility (Required)
• 4 years US Military with an Honorable Discharge, Law Enforcement, security operations, security systems, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, or other field associated with a Nuclear Security Program (Preferred)
• 2 years supervisory responsibilities (Preferred)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
• Firearms qualification with handgun and rifle per STP site training and qualification plan.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Meet and maintain the mental, physical, psychological, and training requirements of Appendix B to Part 73 General Criteria for Security Personnel
• Ensures compliance with NRC requirements for the physical security and protection of the plant.
• Manages the shift in the absence of or as directed by the Security Shift Supervisor.
• Coordinates Work activities: Coordinates procedurally driven activities for Security personnel and, where feasible, rotate employees between post assignments to maintain proficiency. Identifies critical/regulatory post requirements and allocate manpower to ensure critical/regulatory posts are manned. Verifies worker qualifications before employees begin work.
• Administers and supervises on the job training of assigned personnel.
• Ensures that all components of the plant security system are inspected and tested at required intervals and requires that Work Requests are initiated on discovered deficiencies.
• Creates high morale and team spirit through the exercise of leadership and discipline.
• Iniates security reports which document all the events and activities which occur during their tour of duty.
• Develops and maintains a proactive management style within assigned team emphasizing the STP Corporate Culture and compliance with the Code of Conduct; actively pursue issue resolution.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accept outage position.
• Accept ERO position and be able to meet the response requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access if needed.
• Ability to pass all physical and NRC requirements for a Nuclear Security Officer
