Job Summary and Qualifications1. Conducts regular and thorough patrols throughout the interior and exterior of the Emergency Department noting present and potential safety, fire, or security hazards and taking appropriate corrective action.
2. Responds to calls for assistance with combative patients and disorderly persons to include assisting EMS staff with control and monitoring of Baker Act patients.
3. Serves as a visible representative of the facility. Assists patients, visitors and staff in a prompt, courteous and professional manner
4. Collects and compiles information to complete a variety of reports in a timely and accurate manner
5. Responds to emergency situations in order to resolve any incident that could potentially harm staff, patients, and visitors. Calls for assistance as needed.
6. Conducts investigations of all items reported stolen in order to aid staff and patients in recovering articles
7. Monitors and promotes compliance with policies such as parking, solicitation, smoking and visiting hours
8. Escorts visitors, patients and staff to vehicles as requested
9. Notifies Security or provides assistance to individuals having vehicular problems (Dead batteries, flat tires, etc) as needed
10. Responds to fire alarms when needed
11. Documents all incidents and emergencies in departmental log
12. Displays neat and well-groomed appearance and wears appropriate uniform at all times
Minimum Qualifications:
- Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office sworn Police Officer abiding by the Office of the Sheriff Secondary Employment general order required
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
