As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will be part of a highly trained security team that supports critical facilities and infrastructure, public venues that required an enhanced presence and personal protective services. You’ll be trained by our team of highly qualified firearms instructors in safe weapons handling and marksmanship. Expected Responsibilities:

Security Officer will provide safety and security at posts, to include:

• making checkpoint check-ins,
• observing, documenting, and reporting, and
• enforcing laws and policies as directed.
• providing customer service,
• observing and reporting on operability of vertical conveyances
• intervening to terminate action potentially injurious to persons or property,
• ability to recognize and appropriately respond to persons in crisis,
• responding to sick or injured persons,
• responding to safety hazards, equipment malfunctions such as with escalators, liquid spills, and other maintenance related issues,
• responding to events that may require partial or full evacuations,
• responding to mass casualty incidents (MCI) and deploying MCI equipment as needed,
• observing, documenting, and reporting,
• monitoring video and alarms,
• enforcing laws and policies as directed, and
• collaborating with other Security Officers, law enforcement and emergency services.

Security personnel are to be certified and trained and will be assigned a variety of standing, sitting and walking posts.

Qualifications:

1.US Person as defined by 22 USC § 6010.

2.Twenty-one years of age.

3.High School graduate or equivalent.

4.No criminal history that renders the Security Officer unsuitable for the position, taking into account the nature and gravity of the offense or conduct, the time that has passed since the offense, conduct or completion of a sentence, the nature of the job duties and any other relevant factors. Contractor will check criminal backgrounds annually and motor vehicle records every six months.

6. A permanent (not temporary) individual Washington State Guard License. If the Contractor requests that an individual possessing a temporary Washington State Guard work permit be assigned to the Sound Transit account, the Contractor at his or her own expense shall conduct a criminal records check with a Sound Transit approved agency and provide the results of that criminal records check to the Director of Public Safety or designee prior to the assignment of that individual. Public Safety Operations Center Operators and Crime Analysts do not need a Guard License.

7. Two years of responsible employment that demonstrates the ability to meet Sound Transit expectations of performance. It is preferred that personnel possess military, law enforcement, significant security, or customer service experience.

8. Ability to write detailed, accurate reports in English. Ability to pass a typing and comprehension exam.

9. Ability to read, understand and apply printed rules; detailed orders; instructions and training materials in English.

10. Have the ability to recognize situations/individuals who may pose a threat to the public.

11. Excellent communications skills both verbal and written.

12. Ability to handle situations/individuals under stressful conditions.

13. Ability to follow directions, without hesitation, under stressful conditions.

14. Ability to handle verbally disruptive and verbally abusive people in a professional manner.

15. For persons with military service, such persons shall not have a discharge that renders the Security Officer unsuitable for the position

16. Ability to complete physical fitness test

• Pushups, squats, jumping jacks, lift 50lbs., ascend/descend on multiple flights of stairs quickly

17. Pass drug screening (including Marijuana/THC following DOT regulations)

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent;

Speak, read, and write English.

All assigned personnel should be of high integrity and possess exemplary security skills and judgment.

Assigned personnel should possess above average computer skills and must hold all necessary and required licenses, permits and certifications required by the States and/or Countries of assignment to perform Security Officer duties.
