Mississippi S a e Universi y Police Depar men is charged wi h providing for he safe y of all he s uden s, facul y, s aff, and gues s who a end class, work, live, and visi our campus, and wi h he securi y of universi y buildings and proper y. Mississippi S a e Universi y police officers are always working and available o assis you. he depar men provides a comprehensive array of law enforcemen services hrough a dedica ed s aff of more han 35 sworn, s a e commissioned police officers and 16 full- ime suppor personnel. All MSU Police officers are cer ified by he Mississippi Peace Officers Minimum S andards Commission and have he same au hori ies and mus mee he same expec a ions as law enforcemen officers in any communi y.

College Campus Securi y/ Law Enforcemen
Essen ial Du ies and Responsibili ies:
1. Performs foo and vehicle pa rols of campus areas o moni or behavior, buildings, and proper y and communica es necessary campus safe y informa ion o he Universi y Police Depar men .
2. Physically secure buildings as scheduled.
3. Opening and securing rooms and buildings a he reques of au horized individuals.
4. Providing safe y escor s as needed.
5. Pa rols campus buildings and proper y o ensure he securi y of he facili ies/areas.
6. Escor main enance personnel o assigned areas for repairs af er hours.
7. Main ain radio communica ions wi h o her safe y personnel and officers on campus.
8. Responds o ac iva ion of alarm sys ems including campus-wide elec ronic sensor alarm aler s.
9. Wri e and submi inciden repor s o assigned supervisor or law enforcemen officer.
10. O her du ies may include raining addi ional securi y officers and assis ing wi h crowd con rol and/or direc ing raffic during special even s.
11. Abili y o work in s ressful si ua ions and deescala e po en ial violen ac ivi y.
12. Perform o her assigned work-rela ed du ies as required.

Minimum Qualifica ions:
Educa ion: High School diploma or equivalen .
Experience: wo (2) years of previous work experience.
Focus: Securi y rela ed acumen.
Preferred Qualifica ions:
1. Educa ion beyond he minimum.
2. Previous work experience.
3. Cer ifica ion in CPR/ Firs Aid.
4. Good physical condi ion.
