SalaryPosition Summary The Security Guard is responsible for overseeing the safety and security of the company’s customers, employees, facility, and inventory. Daily responsibilities include observing and ensuring the safe arrival and departure of customers, maintaining a smooth flow of patients and caregivers into the sales floor, and reporting any irregularities to the Dispensary Manager. Additionally, performing access control checks, inspecting door hardware, electric strike devices, and bio readers for proper functioning and security, as well as exterior maintenance duties include cutting hedges, ensuring proper functioning of external lights and cameras, and protecting external wires from interference.

Benefits Summary
First Health Network (Medical Insurance): MSMC offers two plan options to employees: First Health Network 3000 and First Health Network 1000 (more to less coverage). MSMC pays 80% of employees’ cost of their chosen health plan for the First Health Network 3000. If the employee chooses the First Health Network 1000 plan the employee is to pay the difference in cost of premiums between the 3000 and 1000 plan.

Paid Time Off (PTO): MSMC encourages all employees to use their accrued PTO and take time for themselves to rejuvenate and rest. MSMC is pleased to offer full-time employees the following paid time off (PTO):
Key Employees:
- Accrue five (5) days of PTO during the first six (6) months of employment
(0.04 hours for every hour worked up to 40 hours)
- Accrue an additional five (5) days during the second six (6) months of employment
(0.04 hours for every hour worked up to 40 hours)
- Accrue fifteen (15) days each year thereafter.
(0.058 hours for every hour worked up to 120 hours)
Required Experience, Education and Skills
Inventory management experience preferred. Strong communication and leadership qualities. Exhibits a sense of urgency when necessary. Ability to direct, coach, support, and delegate tasks to support employees. Ability to issue and explain instructions effectively. Demonstrated experience in a position requiring critical-thinking, problem-solving, planning and assessment. Computer literacy in word processing, point-of-sale systems, and data base management. Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams. Strong oral and written communications skills. Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Core Job Duties
Daily Observing:
- Observe all customers arriving and departing the dispensary in an orderly and safe fashion.
- Observe the parking lot and ensure patients and caregivers arrive to their vehicles without interference or disruption from non-customers.
- Observe the arrival, departure, and receiving of inventory from vendors.
- Assist the dispensary staff in maintaining an orderly flow of patients and caregivers into the sales floor.
- Walk the dispensary perimeter and report any irregularities to the dispensary manager.
Access Control:
- Check all door contacts for wear and tear/make sure they are seated properly.
- Check all electric strike and electronic panic devices to ensure they are seated correctly.
- Check door swing and closing for door closers.
- Check door for prying or latch guards.
- Check all card readers/bio readers to make sure they are seated properly and not loose.
- Check all key cylinders to make sure they are not loose or tampered with.
- Inspect head end access panels and power panels to make sure all cabinets are closed and secured and in good order.
Camera System:
- Check all cameras for any noticeable obstacles and damage.
- Make sure that all cameras are seated properly.
- Check camera surroundings to make sure no noticeable blockages/blind spots.
- Check camera USB backup and backup batteries and date.
Locks/Doors:
- Check all doors for lock hardware/door closer/hinges and door swing.
- Pay attention to how door seals when closed/check for gaps and visible irregularities.
- Any loose hardware, handles, push bars and so on should be tight and should not be noticeably loose or moving aside from their function.
- Check all door catch plates and door strikes located on the door frame to make sure they are all tight and seated well
- Check door hinges and make sure none are sprung and are closing the door without interference.
- Check keys in doors to make sure they work as they should with no issues.
- Check door thresholds and weatherstripping.
- Check condition of doors (rust, dents, holes and open gaps that allow water to penetrate door slab)
- Check all door closers for any noticeable leakage of fluids or grease.
Fire Alarm System:
- Check all devices to make sure they are installed and not lose or moving around or hanging (pull stations, smoke detectors, heat detectors, strobes or horn strobes).
- Check the main fire panel for all up-to-date tags and testing information.
- Check fire alarm batteries if necessary to confirm batteries have current dates within a couple years.
- Check fire alarm keypad for any issues or trouble signals.
Exterior:
- Cut hedges to a level below any windows.
- Ensure external lights are working properly.
- Ensure all external cameras are functioning, recording, and free of obstruction.
- Protect any exterior power, internet or alarm wires with a secure panel or covering.
Additional Duties as Required
- Comply with MSMC's current policies and procedures and applicable state and local laws.
Job Skills
The Security Guard must have strong observational skills to monitor and assess situations effectively. Excellent communication skills are crucial for interacting with the public and collaborating with the company’s management and employees. Additionally, attention to detail, quick decision-making abilities, and a firm grasp of security protocols contribute to a successful Security Guard's skill set. The ability to remain calm under pressure are also essential attributes for this role.
Salary
$15 - $18 per hour
