Summary
You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT/ALARM MONITOR in the Provost Marshal Office/Marine Corps Police Department of MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII.

Duties
  • You will monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) screens for unauthorized activity/activation based on images displayed.
  • You will monitor and operate a Mass Notification System (MNS) to ensure proper dissemination of emergency mass notification messages and ensure proper operation of system.
  • You will maintain alarm control log of all alarm conditions to include setting, resetting, activation, and deactivation to ensure alarms are not malfunctioning.
  • You will monitor and operate alarms panels, call-boxes, intrusion detection systems (IDS), video motion detection systems, ground based radars, and various security systems.
  • You will utilize Symmetry Security Management System to monitor, troubleshoot, manage, and control site security electronic systems.
  • You will operate a variety of office automation equipment, including copy machines, facsimile machines, networked computers, laser printers, shredders, scanners, and other electronic equipment.
  • You will ensure call rosters on key personnel are accurate and maintain complete and accurate listing of all Fire/Smoke alarm boxes.

  • This is a mission essential position. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be 18 years of age.
  • You are required to carry firearms and you must pass periodic proficiency examinations in the use of firearms
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This is a Department of Navy Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). Required to undergo pre-employment urinalysis requirements and sustainment drug testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Must satisfactorily pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation.
  • Must pass a medical evaluation and pass periodic re-tests as required.
  • This position is subject to rotating shift work. Incumbent is subject to 24-hour recall and will maintain a 24-hour recall notification number and is required to respond per installation policy/SOP.
  • Must complete the MCESS training as provided by the physical security section.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Perform administrative office security support, monitoring and troubleshooting electronic security systems (e.g intrusion detection systems, alarms, mass notification, closed circuit television systems); access a database to confirm the proper authorization of visit request; alert appropriate officials of apparent security violations to enforce security laws and regulations; and set, monitor, and secure alarms to protect areas where security requirements are enforced.
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing clerical and administrative duties preparing and maintaining security files and records, drafting routine correspondence relating to security; assist with the coordination of the overall physical security for the base and outlying sites and communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate, or explain information, take orders, and address complaints.
