Job description

Classroom Teacher - Physics/CAD for the 24/25 School Year The teaching position will vary according to the school, subject, and/or grade being taught. However most school teacher jobs contain elements of each of these typical responsibilities including teaching, student management, administrative tasks and extracurricular activities. All employees agree to follow Board Policy, as well as abide by the rules of the District's Procedural Manual and Common Contract.

General PurposeTo plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences - this may include explaining new ideas and unfamiliar concepts with authority, and in a clear and concise way so that students can understandDevelop schemes of work and lesson plansEstablish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activitiesPrepare classroom for class activitiesProvide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activitiesIdentify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needsInstruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipmentUse relevant technology to support instructionObserve and evaluate student's performance and developmentAssign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignmentsProvide appropriate feedback on workEncourage and monitor the progress of individual studentsMaintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and developmentUpdate all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulationsPrepare required reports on students and activitiesManage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and proceduresMaintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the schoolApply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessaryParticipate in department and school meetings, parent meetingsClearly communicate necessary information to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needsKeep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institutionPhysics endorsementCTE endorsement in T&E Drafting (CAD), or be willing to obtain the endorsementMeet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, stateSingle subject teaching credential or certification if teaching a specialized subjectState certificationRelevant teaching experienceKnowledge of relevant technologyKey Competencies:Self motivationHigh energy levelVerbal and written communication skillsAttention to detailHigh work standardsProblem solvingDecision makingOrganizing and planningLearning orientationCritical thinkingStress toleranceFlexibility and adaptabilityInitiativeCreativityPatiencePerformance Responsibilities:Be familiar with and abide by school district policies, and stay current in changes in such policies through procedures described by the BoardEstablishes and fosters a cooperative working relationship with the staff of the building to which the teacher is assigned, as well as with other District personnelExercise mature and professional judgment in teaching and associations with staff and studentsDemonstrates high standards of professionalism and ethical conductMaintains current certification in appropriate teaching areasTeaches the District standards in the assigned area, utilizes effective planning for each day's teaching/learning activities, clarifies goal and objectives of lessons and assignments, diagnoses and prescribes for student academic and effective strengths and weaknesses, evaluates student progress and achievement, and continually seeks to motivate students for the learning tasks at handProvides for reasonable care and safety of students who are assigned to them at all times - Responsible for the daily safekeeping of students in their charge; must have the ability to safely escort assigned students off school premises or otherwise manage students while in emergency situations - This includes following all appropriate crisis management protocol used by the DistrictProvides proper care and reasonable security for all District property in their custodySeeks to establish a school climate, which will promote appropriate student disciplineConsistently supports and assists the building staff in maintaining order and discipline among studentsActively participates in Professional Learning Community discussions at grade and subject levelsUtilizes instructional materials and other educational resources in a competent and effective mannerMakes use of technology for instructional purposes as well as for record keeping, administrative and other non-instructional uses as may be requiredPerforms such other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor
