Seasonal Zoo Gift Shop Clerk
LOCATION:
Columbian Park Zoo
HOURS:
Includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays (20-40 hours per week)
SALARY:
$12.00/hour
DESCRIPTION:
Serves as Seasonal Gift Shop Clerk for the Columbian Park Zoo, responsible for assisting with
the operation of the Zoo’s GIFT SHOP and amusement rides. Operates GIFT SHOP POS system
and assists customers with questions and purchases. Controls and operates amusement
rides, ensuring public safety. Performs minor maintenance duties and maintains cleanliness of
rides areas and GIFT SHOP.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED is preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age to operate the train.
Ability to maintain amusement ride and GIFT SHOP environments for safety and quality control.
Ability to perform simple arithmetic additions and subtractions. Ability to effectively
communicate both in writing and orally, as well as ability to follow instructions and abide by
department policies and work rules. Ability to utilize critical decision-making skills in response
to urgent situations. Ability to engage with visitors and provide quality customer service. Ability
to regularly work weekend, evening and holiday hours. Must possess valid driver’s license and
demonstrated safe driving record.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Incumbent performs duties indoors and outdoors and may involve continuous physical
exertion, such as standing/walking for long periods, safely lifting/carrying objects weighing less
than 25 pounds, climbing ladders, crouching/kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling objects.
Duties involve exposure to animal bites and zoonotic diseases as well as dust, dirt, adverse
weather, daily sun, and extreme temperatures.
