Camp Mather in Yosemite is seeking a passionate and experienced horseback riding Trail Guide to join our team for the upcoming summer season. As a Live-In Horseback Riding Trail Guide, you will have the unique opportunity to work amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Yosemite National Park while sharing your love of horses and the outdoors with our guests.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct safe and enjoyable horseback riding trail rides for guests of all skill levels, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout the journey.
  2. Provide thorough instruction and guidance to riders on basic horsemanship, trail etiquette, and safety procedures.
  3. Maintain a deep understanding of the local trails, landmarks, and natural features within Yosemite National Park.
  4. Care for and maintain the health, grooming, and tack of our equine partners, ensuring their well-being and readiness for rides.
  5. Assist with daily barn chores, including feeding, mucking stalls, and general stable maintenance.
  6. Uphold Camp Mather's commitment to environmental stewardship by promoting Leave No Trace principles and responsible trail use.
  7. Foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere for guests, offering insights into the natural and cultural history of the area.
  8. Collaborate effectively with other staff members to ensure seamless operations and exceptional guest experiences.
  9. Participate in regular staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations as required.
  10. Embrace the opportunity to live on-site at Camp Mather, contributing to a vibrant and supportive community environment.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with horses, including trail riding and basic horse care.
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with guests from diverse backgrounds.
  3. Excellent horsemanship skills, with a keen eye for safety and a passion for sharing the joy of riding.
  4. Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment, including varying weather conditions and rugged terrain.
  5. Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  6. Willingness to live on-site at Camp Mather throughout the duration of the summer season.
  7. Comfortable residing in provided accommodation such as a cabin or RV.
  8. Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
