Public Prep is an award-winning network of charter schools across Manhattan and the Bronx and the nation's  first non-profit tuition-free charter school network that develops exceptional Pre-K, and single-gender elementary and middle public schools. 

Our network comprises 7 schools across 5 campuses in the Lower East Side and Bronx, serving 2,100 scholars in grades PreK-8:

Girls Prep Bronx Elementary School (Grades Pre-K-5)
Girls Prep Bronx Elementary School II (Grades K-4) - In Fall 2024, school will be located at 263 E 203rd St.
Girls Prep Bronx Middle School (Grades 6-8)
Girls Prep Lower East Side (K-8)
Boys Prep Bronx (Grades K-4)

Primary Function & Position Overview:

The primary purpose of the Student Enrollment Associate role is to support new and growing Public Prep schools to fill open spots and build robust waitlists of prospective students. This position will require you to work closely with the school's DOO's, Ops Teams, and Principal to execute on recruitment plans and meet goals set by the team. Ability to engage families in dialogue about Public Prep and a passion for our mission to eliminate the achievement gap is a must. Student Enrollment Associates are our faces and voice to new families and will be expected to execute their responsibilities with professionalism and a high degree of customer service.

Public Prep offers a competitive pay rate commensurate with experience, qualifications, and internal equity. The hourly rate for this position is $20 per hour.

Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Canvassing within recruitment areas specified by the recruitment plan you are helping to execute (Canvassing includes but is not limited to knocking on doors, making contact with local community groups and businesses, and handing out pamphlets to prospective families at events/high traffic locations)

    • Maintain the integrity and operation of all enrollment data in student information systems by:
    • Manage offers on SchoolMint
    • Manage families who are in Registration-in-Progress to complete paperwork and submit required documents.
    • Verifying all enrollment documentation (i.e. birth certificates, residency proof, immunizations) and ensuring 100% compliance with district requirements.
    • Update and translate Schoolmint communication templates.

    • Support student recruitment efforts through:
    • Plan, prepare for and conduct Open Houses and New Family Welcome Events.
    • Assist with the creation and distribution of marketing materials, ads, mailings and social media.
    • Engage with alumni and family ambassadors.
    • Tabling at target partner organizations, feeder schools, head starts and preschools during months when the application is open.
    • Leverage street fairs, community events and local organizations to increase awareness.
    • Phone banking to follow up on digital leads and canvassing in key neighborhoods.
    • Generating new ideas for marketing and outreach tactics. 
    • Assisting in informing, coordinating and collaborating with our school-based operations teams to ensure a seamless flow of onboarding new scholars across all campuses.
Qualifications
    • Fiercely committed to Public Prep's mission and core values
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the capacity to build strong relationships across school communities
    • Strong ability to market and sell; previous experience in sales preferred 
    • Strong attention to detail and affinity for accuracy
    • Adaptable and flexible with the ability to manage multiple projects and completing priorities
    • Results-oriented and motivated to deliver high-quality, data-driven outcomes
    • Ability to work in a high stakes, fast-paced environment with a "roll up my sleeves" attitude
    • Maintains a growth mindset and a willingness to learn
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
    • Willingness to travel between our four (4) Bronx campuses and extensive community events
    • Ability to work evening and weekend events for recruitment purposes
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality where required and discretion when involved in sensitive conversations(preferred)
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university(preferred)
    • Minimum two (2) years of work experience
