Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
These positions are represented by the Public Employees Local 71 Union (L71) and are subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and L71.

LOCATION: North Maintenance Shop: 2839 Mt. View Dr, Anchorage, AK; South Maintenance Shop; 11440 Lang Street, Anchorage, AK
Example of Duties
Maintain turf areas including mowing, irrigation and fertilization; trails and walkways; and various sports fields, rinks, and courts. Provide maintenance to facilities, signs, fences and barriers. Plant and maintain shrubs and trees as required. Participate in sanitation maintenance including litter collection, restroom cleaning, park area cleanup, illegal camp removal and clean up. Deliver, assemble, install, and maintain parks and sports equipment. Report acts of vandalism and makes repairs to property and facilities. Follow zone leader instructions and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Six (6) months experience in lawn, landscape, trails, construction, grounds, or facility maintenance.
Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at the time of hire.
Additional Important Information
If selected for hire, applicant must be capable of bending, twisting, and kneeling. Applicant must be able to lift and carry items weighing more than fifty (50) pounds and willing to work outdoors in inclement weather.

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a copy of the applicant's Alaska driver's license and a current copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicles' driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaskan driver's license was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.

Military Service Interview Preference:

Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment. The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual's command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
