Seasonal Park Ranger

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the safety, comfort, and convenience for all park users within the City of Frankenmuth. We are looking for individuals with grounds-keeping skills, horticulture and/or gardening experience, and those with athletic field maintenance skills. Works under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director/Staff, while performing a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled labor tasks requiring considerable physical effort. Tasks include maintenance of public parks, public spaces, properties and buildings, construction activities, and athletic field maintenance. Operation of light duty trucks, power-driven equipment, and a variety of cleaning and routine maintenance tasks and other related work.

SUPERVISION

The Seasonal Park Ranger shall work under the supervision of the Parks, Recreation, and Public Facilities Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:

1. Performs general building and grounds maintenance including mowing and trimming, landscape beds, tree care, leaf pick up, custodial and other needs.

2. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of athletic facilities for programs and public use.

3. Perform building and grounds maintenance at the Harvey Kern Pavilion.

4. Perform trash and litter pick up through parks and public spaces.

5. Operates equipment such as pickup trucks, tractors, mowing machines, chain saws, leaf blowers, trimmers and other types of equipment that may be required.

6. Perform Spring and Fall cleanup of parks grounds and public spaces.

7. Assist in other department needs with in Parks and Recreation Department.

8. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

9. Provide information and assistance to patrons when appropriate.

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
