Seasonal Laborers

The City of Danville is seeking Seasonal Laborers for our Public Works Department. These positions play a very important role in providing quality services to the citizens of Danville. Successful candidates will perform work in one or all of the following Divisions depending on the needs of the Department: Streets, Sanitary Sewer, Solid Waste and Parks. This work will involve operation of equipment and other duties including maintenance and construction work within each Division.

These positions do not include benefits.

Normal Work Hours: 6:30am to 4:30pm, Monday – Thursday. (Other hours as directed by supervisor or division)

Salary: $15.00 per hour

Qualifications:

- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

- Must have a good work record and demonstrate sufficient communication skills.

- Ability to operate heavy equipment.

- These positions are subject to background checks and random drug/alcohol testing.

Street Division: Street maintenance involving snow removal, crack sealing, patching, alley and road grading, concrete and asphalt construction & repair, storm sewer construction & repair, tree trimming and removal, and sign maintenance.

Sanitary Sewer Division: Sewer maintenance involving snow removal, sanitary sewer repair and cleaning, sewer televising, catch basin/manhole repair and replacement, H&L landfill maintenance and lift station maintenance.

Solid Waste Division: Solid Waste operations involving snow removal, automated and semi-automated solid waste and yard waste pickup, blight removal and street sweeping.

Parks Division: Parks operations involving snow removal, mowing, tree trimming, event set up and takedown, parks building and property construction and maintenance and right-of-way beautification.

Pool Division: Lifeguards, Pool Staff – (hours of work will vary, minimum requirement 15 years of age, training and certifications provided through the City)
