SUMMARY OF POSITION
Perform and assist in a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties in the maintenance, preservation, and operation of City View Cemetery, Facilities Division, and Parks Division, including grounds, buildings, and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Additional job functions may vary due to department or City needs/requirements. Assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Perform a variety of cleaning, repairing, and minor maintenance duties of facilities, parks equipment, including painting, and general custodial tasks.
- Operate large and small mowing equipment for maintaining turf at City owned facilities.
- Perform lawn maintenance duties of weed-eating, edging, and blowing grass.
- Assist in the application of herbicides and fertilizers with the use of hand-operated equipment.
- Assist in maintaining parks equipment such as mowers and play equipment.
- Perform high frequency play area inspections.
- Assist in the maintenance and operations of swimming pools and perform tasks related to the cleaning and painting of pools.
- Assist in setting up playground and other equipment for recreation programs.
- Assist with planting, pruning, and spraying trees and shrubs.
- Assist in the preparation of cemetery plots for burials.
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the City's Softball Complex.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Certain licenses and certificates, if required, may be acquired on the job as agreed upon by the City and employee.
- Valid Washington State drivers license.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
ENVIRONMENT: Duties are performed both in interior building and outside environments. Outside environments include varying and extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
PHYSICAL: Frequently performs manual labor in cramp conditions, climb ladders, bend and reach for extended periods of time. May be required to lift heavy equipment and materials in excess of 50 pounds.
HAZARDS: Physical hazards from mechanical and electrical equipment, exposure to debris and drug paraphernalia, hazardous gases and fumes, chemical and paints.
