The Waterpark Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining public relations and order in and around pool area. Conducts lifesaving and first aid activities. Enforces rules and regulations pertaining to pool and swimming activities. Inspects condition of all rescue equipment including buoys, floats, ropes, medical supplies, and other safety equipment. Will also handle minor maintenance and custodial duties. Work is performed under various weather conditions. Lifeguard applicants must be 16 years of age and must obtain certification on their own before start date. Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
Job Duties:
· Provide safe water-based recreation for park.
· Maintain constant watch over assigned pool area to prevent accidents.
· Warns swimmers of hazards.
· Maintain the water park area, to include trash and litter removal.
· Perform appropriate rescue and medical services as required.
· Provide general customer service and park information to visitors.
· Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
· Other duties as required.

Condition of Hire:
- Lifeguard: Candidates must possess a valid Lifeguard Certification OR the applicant must agree as a requirement of employment to possess one prior to first day on the job.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. DNREC does not provide sponsorship for holders of H-1 B Visas.
- Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
