Cedar Rapids, IA | Founded in 1947, Elmcrest Country Club (ECC) is a private, member owned club. ECC has approximately 365 golf members playing 19,000 golf rounds per year. The Golf Learning Center (GLC) provides golf and development to the membership December - March creating a 12 month golf season. The GLC utilizes three Fullswing Golf Simulators, a putting/fitting room, and two additional indoor hitting bays.

ECC is the host of the Zach Johnson Foundation Classic. ECC has hosted the 2015 and 2022 Iowa Boys 4A State Golf Tournament as well as multiple Iowa Golf Association and Iowa PGA events.

The incoming Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional will join an energetic and driven team that enjoys the challenges of providing an exceptional experience to our members and guests. The responsibilities of being an Assistant Golf Professional at ECC will prepare the successful candidate to advance their career in the golf industry as a Head Golf Professional.

ECC strives to provide five day work weeks throughout the year with occasional extended hours during our signature events.

Experience preferred

Essential Responsibilities

Staff

  • Assist the Director of Golf with the recruitment, hiring, training, motivation and supervision of all golf inside and outside service staff
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled by management
  • Adhere to, enforce, and implement policies and procedures of Elmcrest Country Club
  • Work closely with and respectively with all club employees to implement policies and procedures of Elmcrest Country Club
  • Work with the Director of Golf and Teaching Professional on innovative Player Development Programs for women, families, seniors, and juniors. Utilize PGA of America player development tools, resources, and materials such as Get Golf Ready, PGA sports Academy, and others

The Position Supervises:

  • Golf Shop Staff

Facilities and Equipment

  • Management of play, golfer check-in and billing
  • Maintain all opening and closing procedures
  • manage golf car operation, practice facility, club storage service, and handicap services
  • Provide leadership/guidance to golf staff in creating an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop, bag room, and cart storage areas
  • Provide club repair and club fitting services to the membership

Merchandising

  • Responsible for entering all new invoices into the club POS system
  • Responsible for entering all credits into the club’s credit book
  • Responsible for and work closely with Golf Shop Assistant in pricing inventory
  • Responsible for preparing Credit Book & Inventory Report. Place on Director of Golf’s desk on the 5th of each month for the previous month
  • Responsible for managing Ship Sticks account

Events

  • Responsible for all Interclubs and Outside Group Outings including the Zach Johnson Foundation Classic
  • Proficient with Golf Genius tournament software
    Event responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Promotion
  • Registration
  • Preparation
  • Course set up
  • Execution
  • Scoring
  • Prize distribution
  • Billing
  • Post tournament follow up procedures
    • Posting credit book transactions
    • Pictures
    • E-mails
    • Posting results in gallery hallway within 24 hours
  • Responsible for Function Sheet book
  • Work closely with Golf Shop Assistant in keeping Function Sheet book current.
  • Coordinate golf activities with club departments when applicable
  • Administer Rules of Golf

Player Development Programs

  • Work closely with the Teaching Professional in implementing the Junior Golf Program
  • Assist the Teaching Professional in Golf Clinics for Men, Women, and Juniors
  • Provide and teach individual golf lessons
  • Proficient with Trackman technology
  • Play golf with a variety of members in competitive and non-competitive situations
