Muscatine is strategically located at a crossroads of various modes of transportation for both commuters and freight travel. Interstate 80, U.S. Highways 61 & 6, and State Highways Iowa 22 & 38 all provide regional commuting options for the growing workforce. The location also benefits from easy access to the Muscatine Municipal Airport, the Canadian Pacific Railroad service, and freight service on Mississippi River waterways. The 300-mile market includes the seven major metropolitan areas of Chicago, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Omaha, and St. Louis, reaching a total area population of nearly 39 million.
Muscatine Municipal Golf Course is located just North of Muscatine, Iowa. It is a family friendly, public golf course run by the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department. It has been named the best golf course by the Muscatine Journal numerous times. It is an 18 hole layout with multiple sets of tees that will provide a challenge for anyone from the scratch golfer to the beginner golfer. The course plays host to many outside events from Iowa Junior Tour events to corporate employee outings to local bar outings. Every July, Muscatine Municipal plays host to the 2 Day Muscatine City Championship. The course on average hosts 26,000 rounds per year.
This is a seasonal position from March to November.
Experience Required
- Enrolled or looking to enroll in PGA of America membership (preferred not but required).
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations
- Fundamental supervisory practices and principles
- Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
- Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
- Self-motivated with a desire to promote and market.
- Service and customer focused attitude
- Experienced in written and oral business communications.
- Experienced computer user, including word, excel, Facebook, Instagram, tournament programs, teaching software, and POS systems
Daily Golf Shop Administration
Oversee the Golf Shop and the Food & Beverage concessions to ensure the City’s Policies and Procedures are being followed.
Tournament & League Administration
As the Assistant Golf professional, you will work closely with the Tournament Organizers from outside events to make sure their event is run with the highest form of attention to detail. This will include but not limited to pre tournament set up, day of event set up and post tournament recaps.
Manufacturers Demo Days & Club Fitting
Help promote Manufacturer Demo Days on the Driving Range and/or in the Simulator. Be present on the days of those events to help the Sales Reps fit and sell product to the loyal customers
Outside Operations Management
Oversee the Outside Service Staff and make sure they are offering the utmost customer service to our citizens. In the absence of Outside Service Staff, this position will take the lead in assisting customers when they arrive and depart.
Merchandising
Assist the Head Professional in the receiving, displaying, and selling of merchandise. Manage the special orders to ensure orders are completed.
