GENERAL PURPOSE
To plan, develop, implement and evaluate aquatic programs, special events, athletics and recreation programming for a wide variety of ages within the Aquatic Division. Manage multiple aquatic facilities and staff operations.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
The employee directly supervises seasonal pool managers, cashiers, water safety instructors, and lifeguards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages and supervises the planning, development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of aquatic programs and special events for a diverse group of people.
Implements a comprehensive swim lesson program for youth and adults.
Trains and certify aquatic personnel for lifeguard and water safety instructor license.
Schedules facilities and coordinates aquatic program activities in conjunction with Parks and Recreation programs.
Maintains appropriate records and prepares requested reports.
Hires, trains, and supervises aquatic program staff and contracted class instructors.
Ensures payroll accuracy.
Ensures sound fiscal control and recommends adjustments when identified.
Maintains statistical data on program participation. Completes evaluations and surveys and maintains records as required.
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
Promotes the expansion of revenue potential through various innovative resources.
Prepares and recommends program budget requests, cost estimates, and justifications for needed equipment, supplies and personnel and makes proper purchases.
Enforces policies and procedures for staff, swim team members, instructors, volunteers, and guests.
Maintains website for aquatic programming and special events.
Assists in the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of city wide special events.
Communicates plans, policies and procedures to staff and the general public.
Issues written and oral instructions and assigns duties and conducts follow ups for accuracy.
Prepares reports and compiles statistical data to assist in decision making process.
Coordinates a comprehensive marketing plan for a family aquatic center and one municipal swimming pools.
Conducts safety training for aquatic personnel.
Coordinates / oversees class registrations.
Handles emergency situations.
Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license and comply with City of Killeen driving policy
Serves as a member of various city employee committees, as assigned.
Assists staff in the performance of their duties as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Must be 16 by date of hire
Specials Requirements:
Must have a valid driver's license by date of hire.
Must obtain and maintain a Texas Driver's License within 60 days of hire.
Must possess American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor License, American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification current CPR certification, and current lifeguard certification.
Must be available to work weekends, and various hours to oversee various events and activities and to attend meetings.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Personal computer, calculator, copy and fax machine, phone, base radio unit, television, DVD player, and overhead projector.
