Job Summary
he Science & Engineering Librarian par icipa es in Libraries' academic engagemen program o suppor he eaching and research endeavors of he Universi y for he engineering and science disciplines. Working ou of he Science & Engineering Library, his posi ion will con ribu e o ou reach, informa ion li eracy, research suppor , assessmen , and collec ion developmen ac ivi ies and work collabora ively wi h coun erpar s in he social sciences and humani ies and s aff across he Libraries o ensure a consis en approach o learning, research, and ou reach.
Essen ial Func ions

  • Serve as one of he Libraries' specialis s in engineering and he sciences.
  • Ac ively par icipa e in he Libraries' Academic Liaison Program and es ablish and fos er rela ionships wi h assigned academic depar men s and programs.
  • Par ner wi h facul y o in egra e informa ion li eracy skills and resources in o curricula.
  • Cul iva e research par nerships wi h facul y in assigned depar men s and programs.
  • Communica e regularly wi h facul y, s aff, and s uden s in assigned academic depar men s and programs.
  • Par icipa e in designing and eaching ins ruc ional sessions and workshops for various audiences o cul iva e s uden s' research and me ali eracy skills.
  • Crea e research guides, web pages, and learning objec s as appropria e.
  • Provide research assis ance o library users hrough in person and remo e echnologies, while fos ering skills for independen research.
  • Collabora e wi h he Da a Services Librarian o compile research impac me rics hrough use of bibliome rics approaches (including al me rics and o her approaches) for researchers, adminis ra ors, and campus uni s.
  • Keep apprised of curren rends in digi al scholarship, informa ion and da a li eracy, open access, open educa ional resources, research da a managemen , research impac me rics, scholarly communica ion, academic libraries, and higher educa ion, and regularly incorpora e in o daily work.
  • Use da a and assessmen echniques o suppor evidence-based changes o services, programs, and user experience.

Minimum Qualifica ions
  • Gradua e degree in librarianship (from a program accredi ed by he American Library Associa ion) or rela ed field, or combina ion of an advanced degree in a relevan subjec area and experience in libraries, archives, museums, or similar ins i u ions by ime of hire.
  • Knowledge of reference and informa ion sources, me hods, and ools used for performing library research, par icularly hose rela ing o engineering and he sciences.
  • Knowledge of key issues, rends, concep s, and skills associa ed wi h informa ion li eracy, digi al scholarship, da a li eracy, open access, research da a managemen , research impac me rics, and scholarly communica ion.
  • Evidence of commi men o user-cen ered service in an academic ins i u ion con ribu ing o library and universi y goals.
  • Demons ra ed abili y o build and sus ain effec ive working rela ionships and work collabora ively in a diverse and fas -paced environmen .
  • S rong organiza ional, projec , and ime managemen skills o lead or coordina e mul iple projec s and work wi h minimal supervision.
  • S rong oral and wri en communica ion skills.

Preferred Qualifica ions
  • Familiari y wi h sof ware applica ions and sys ems used in academic libraries.
  • Academic degree in a S EM discipline.
  • Experience wi h bibliome ric da a sources, such as Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, e c.)
  • Experience using da a visualiza ion sof ware such as VosViewer, Gephi, ArcGIS, ableau, e c.
  • Working knowledge and unders anding of bibliome ric indica ors such as ci a ion coun s, publica ion coun s, journal me rics, h-index, and al me rics, e c.
  • Knowledge and suppor of sys ema ic review me hods.

Work Schedule

Salary Informa ion
